I made these "curtains" for my kitchen from aluminum flashing. I love how the light streams through them in the morning - unfortunately it was rainy this morning when I took the picture!

I printed a pattern from the internet and enlarged it to fit the metal. Then I punched out the pattern with a nail and hammer.

I get comliments on them all the time and the best part is that they were FREE - we already had the metal in the barn.

What a clever idea. It is so cute and gives a home that country vintage feel. And how resourceful to be able to use something you had laying around your barn already!
Good Job!

These are wonderful!! I've always wanted to make a pie safe. I asked the tinsmith at Old Sturbridge Village in MA on one of my visits how to do it and he showed me. Well I've never had the opportunity to make a pie safe yet (or a place to put one) but this looks like something I could even do! Thanks so much for the inspiration. I too would love to see more of what you've done.

Ooohh and aaahhh Peanut. Very nice. I can't see how they are attached. Did you bend the top at a 45-degree angle and then screw or nail to the upper window casing or use a board behind it or what? Just curious. Might like to try this in one room and see if I can do it. Thanks for sharing.

How creative! I love the idea! I can see why you don't want a "traditional" curtin. Am I the only one that noticed the wonderful view through the window?? Beautiful!

So Cute...I miss tin piercing...it is a great way to get out your frustrations...all that hammering and you make something beautiful, not hurting anyone! I made and sold many things doing this years ago...wish I had saved some of them, but don't think I have many of them left.
Pieces of tin cut out in 'farmy' shapes make great primitive ornaments! This is such an easy craft that anyone can do. I used to teach classes on this, but it is really not necessary to take a class, it is a craft any skill level can do.
Love it made into the valance...great idea Peanut! Got any more pictures of your house to share with us? I love to see how others decorate.
