I would love to see more about farmkids in the upcoming books and magazines. I think it is something that a lot of farmgirls can relate to, and it is always great to see more ways to raise your child in a more wholesome environment in this not-so-wholesome world.

What do you ladies think?

I too would love this addition. That is part of what i want our chapter (cows and heifers) to be about. you get the title! anyway i want my girls to be learning these skills BEFORE they are married and busy with kids. my oldest (7) is already excited to learn. She is making her first yo-yo right now! it's our duty to grow a do-it-yourself made in the USA GENERATION!!!

AHA- you are right Alee...........a Dr Spock book on raising kids country. MaryJane will have many good words of wisdom not just for mom's and mom's to be but for us can't wait to be granny's as well! I can see a section in her magazine just for this. As a mother of four with them ranging from 5-18 I can tell you I am still learning things. Great idea!

If it was Future Farm Kids of Anywhere- wouldn't that be a chapter for pregnant women? :D

So I propose "Farm Kids of Anywhere" or "Young Farmgirls (Farmboys) of Anywhere"

But above and beyond us doing this with the chapters and such- Don't you think it would be fun to hear more stories from MaryJane about raising her two children and maybe hearing tips and advice and such from her and other moms in some of the magazines perhaps? I know as a mom myself, I am always trying to absorb knowledge from others that have been "there" before. :D

Oh! I just LOVE FFGA!!! Future Farmgirls of Anywhere!!! Beth - what a darling idea. I can't wait to do it where I live. I only have boys - two little ones - but I might somehow incorporate them into things - and I just can't wait to see what others decide to do. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could mentor girls and help them become wonderful, skilled, smart, kind, knowledgeable women? Great ideas, all of you!!!

XOXO, Libbie

FFGOA -- This is something I want to introduce to the Chapters. Future FarmGirls of America ( or anywhere for that matter) After talking with Miz Susan (NotQuiteJuneCleaver) she told me about this and is letting me run with it. Can you see patch projects? As a teacher of twenty years, I can think of so many things to do with this. I saw a special on the local news of Land Schools where part of a normal school day is going to the farm and learning not just to plant seeds but how to cultivate the land, test the soil, rotate crops, and so much more. All the wondeful skills we have been taught by our mothers. grandmothers and friends here, and then passing that on.
