Hi girls,

For as long as I can remember, we have gone to a neighbor's Christmas tree farm to get our tree. Sadly, she died (in her 90's), this summer. So this year, we've been invited to a new tradition at a different farm: a tailgate tree cutting party.

We are each asked to bring two dishes, a game for kids, and we will drive to a local farm, cut our trees, and "tailgate". I have never "tailgated", but this sounds fun.

What would you bring? I am thinking one dish will be Greek macaroni and cheese - a souffle like pasta dish that is good hot, warm, or cold. What else would you bring?

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

I would probably take something cold so I wouldn’t have to worry about keeping something warm. Maybe like a banana pudding or a Jell-O salad. Something easy and cold could help make things simple. Especially since you are cooking your Greek macaroni and cheese.

Sloppy joes go a long ways. Chips and apple pie. Love the hot chocolate idea.

Chili beans with ground beef, cooked in crockpot and wrapped in insulated container. Tortilla chips on the side! I might also entertain the idea of bringing my campstove so that things could be heated on it!

I would bring a five gallon container of hot chocolate spiked with Rumple Mintz for the adults. For the kids, I would bring the same thing except I would spike it with mint extract. I guess the adult one who have to be under guard.

Aw, Nicole - that's so sad that she won't be there this year... Then again, just imagine how awesome her Christmas tree will be in Heaven!!! What a celebration she'll be having THIS year!!!

I'd probably bring an apple pie dump cake and a cheesy baked potato casserole with bacon. Both start out warm, but they are absolutely wonderful cold, too!

What game are you bringing?

(Are you talking about pastitsio? Oh my goodness... what a memory! One year, my mom made it for us... Hers was a total disaster... She could never figure out what went wrong. I'm sure yours would be wonderful, though! Sadly, after the experience with my Mom's, I couldn't eat it, no matter how wonderful yours is, even if you paid me! LOL!)

Have a great time! New traditions can be just as fun, if not even better, than the old! :)

Hugs -
