Bonnie,
I worked in retail for several years, luckily at that time no christmas music until the day after thanksgiving. That tells you how long ago that was.. It was muzak and by the time christmas eve rolled around we could pretty much time out when specific songs would play, if it was slow we would try to guess what the next song was. Don't get me wrong, I love christmas music, my daughter is in her choir at her church and I love to hear her sing. I just don't want to hear it in the store before Halloween is over.

Today was a day for the Piano Guys and their Christmas CD :)

Krista - we are hoping to move out west in about a year... Where we will once again have four seasons!

CJ - my favorite Christmas CDs are by Celtic Woman! I am thinking they are going in the CD player tomorrow!

Nicole: That is so good to know. Now I have legit proof that singing Christmas music right now is the best thing for my baby! It’s the perfect excuse. Thank you.

So many of us love the Christmas oldies and we have all picked a different favorite singer. It would be fun to create a Farmgirl Christmas Oldies CD. Have everyone pick their favorite Christmas oldie and build a playlist.

Krista: I have a 13 year old daughter. When I was pregnant with her, I actually put headphones on my stomach (laughing at myself, but yes, I really did that) and piped music through a walkman for her to listen to. My husband is not musical at all, and I have been told by a doctor once I was tone deaf. My dd is not only musical, but plays the violin like nobody's business, and can play perfectly by ear! So there must be something to that!

Okay girls, it's been warm here too this month. But today I broke out the Christmas cd in the car...24/7 of Christmas music! :)

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

PS I especially love the oldies...Bing and Burl are my faves!

I went to a local nursery to look at Christmas decorations and they had music playing the whole time I was there. It was so nice for me but I wonder if the employees like it 24-7. I love Christmas music and everything about a real Christmas.

See that is what I feared. Looks like I can’t ever move out of state! Unless I move back just for the holidays. Shannon and Winnie I hope you can find a way to make the holidays more to your liking. Winnie I am interested in what the book says. You will have to give me an over view when you are done. Too bad I can’t ship you some snow to help out!!

I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I LOVE MUSIC . . . I am a musician and will soon be digging my Christmas music out to play. I'm not ready to listen to it yet, but that's typical and we usually listen to it long after Christmas is over. Some of our favorites are Celtic versions of the traditional songs, but also Celtic music as well.

In all honesty we are NOT ready for the Christmas commercial ads on TV yet!

Krista, having grown up in Virginia near the mountains, I greatly miss the season of Fall and the colder weather of December. Shannon is right, down here in the South, it never quite feels like Thanksgiving or Christmas because we often have very warm weather. In Florida, we have a few frosts, but not many, and only sporadic cold spells. Recently, I found a book at our local history museum titled Christmas in Florida. I plan on reading it soon and seeing how I could change up the Christmas tradition. From years of unsuccessfully trying to make a northern Christmas work in Florida, perhaps it is time to give up and see what is the tradition from this area. Should be interesting! I'm not holding my breath for being totally enamored!! LOL!

I have lived in the south forever eleven years, and for me,NO it does not feel like winter, Fall,Thanksgiving or Christmas down here. We were 80 yesterday! Still no frosts! Oh I miss the cold and snow!

Winnie, I was actually thinking about that just yesterday. I told my husband that as much as I would love to live on a nice warm beach I don’t think I could handle it at this time of year. I have to have cold weather and snow to even feel like Christmas. We are already in the 30s here. If there is no snow it simply just feels wrong. Does it still feel like Thanksgiving and Christmas to you guys even with the warm/hot weather? Is it weird to not get snow at Christmas time?

Not yet, girlfriend! I know there's a radio station out there that's playing them already, but I've yet to find it! So, please sing a "Jingle Bells" and a "Joy To The World!" out loud for me! LOL! Hugs - Nini

Not yet, Nicole! It has been a very hot and humid Fall this year and I admit to feeling a bit cheated! We just finished a 2 week pattern of upper 80 temps and some 90s complete with humidity to boot. With the AC running and still in my sandals, Christmas is way far from my mind. We have finally cooled off a bit and this weekend is supposed to bring some much cooler days before another heat up next week. My hope is for some trends of cooler weather for the rest of this month so that Thanksgiving will be a time when we can wear a sweater and have the windows open. Hot and humid days just don't make one want to have a big cook-a-thon in the kitchen! LOL!! I am , however, knitting away on Christmas gifts to fill requests from family and friends. Too bad, I can't knit by a nice fire instead of under a ceiling fan outside on the porch!!

I will admit I have slightly started listening to Christmas music. I was told that if I sing to my baby now when he is born he will recognize the songs and be soothed by them. So since he is due in December I figured I might as well get a head start on singing some Christmas songs to him! Bonnie I agree with you. I am in love with the oldies. My favorite has to be Nat King Cole.

You know it! Actually, to be completely honest, I've had the same 5 Christmas CDs in my car changer since 2012. We had a house fire that year - Christmas Eve morning - and what with one thing and another I've never taken them out!

I really need to change them up!
