We had our Annual Gingerbread House Day with our extended family and it is always so much fun. I have always said that building memories and traditions are a lot of work for the Mom in the house....but, without fail, I am always glad we did it.

Heather I had to giggle at your picture. Yup - that looks like the South!!! We are in the low 60s today, smh, and that is normal! There have been a number of Christmases that we have been in shorts and t-shirts :( I too think Christmas is much better white and cold! Prayerfully, one day!

Heather, I might have seen snow at Christmas once or twice in my life time but if so it's been so long ago that I don't remember. We're more apt to have ice than snow later in Jan & Feb. Today it's wet & overcast. Christmas around here is an attitude; we sure don't get the feeling from the weather.

I've been super busy trying to get all my Christmas stuff done!! Love all the pictures Connie. I have a question for our southern sisters - Winnie maybe - Is this really how Christmas looks way down south?

It's beautiful, but when I think Christmas this is more what comes to mind

I know most places don't get much snow - especially not for Christmas. For some reason seeing that picture today just made me think what it would be like to be further south this time of year. I guess I'm still young because I don't really like the idea (giggle).

Ha Ha ha!. Connie I had thought that picture of the kitchen WAS yours :) I just went back and retread all the posts after and realized it wasn't.

Yesterday was a "Nativity" day for us... We went to a local monastery, where they have a "Crèche Festival." they had ninety different nativities from all over the world, set up! Then last night, we went through a living nativity. It was a two hour wait for a ten minute experience, but was worth it! It was so lovely!

I love Christmas, it's my favorite time of the year. My boys help me decorate, make crafts and we listen to Christmas music all day long.
Everybody just seems nicer this time of the year and I wish we could bottle it up so we could have it all year long.

I haven't put up a big tree for about the past four or five years cause I just don't have the room. I have a small tabletop tree and I have a bare, snow covered regular tree with lights that I like better than the traditional Christmas tree. I hang small ornaments on it and put two rustic looking wolves on each side of it, and a small red fox ornament sitting at the base of the tree. I'm going to decorate a "Christmas ladder" this year--it's an old farm ladder that I have leaning against the wall. I'll string lights on it and get some burlap covered candy cane decorations that I saw at the craft mall. I have burlap curtains so I'm going for a rustic look this year. I want to try to find a climbing elf for the ladder. Maybe wrap some ribbon down the length of the ladder. I have a four foot tall candlelabra that I hang ornaments on. I have a Christmas wreath that my SIL made years ago so I might put that at the top of the ladder. And I already have some stars made from twigs. I put them up last year and just left them up. Tomorrow is supposed to be warm so I'll put up my outdoor decorations. Mostly garlands and ribbons. I have to make some food for our potluck at work on Wednesday. Christmas will be here before I know it.
