Posted - Jan 05 2014 : 2:30:08 PM Winnie, I am with you. I like listening to the music when things are calm and all the company is gone. I think I will probably be late this year putting stuff away, but I did not put out much this year, so won't take long. I want to play all my Christmas music one more time. I love the Alabama Christmas, IL DIVO, and a couple of others. Not ready to have it over yet. |

Posted - Jan 04 2014 : 06:41:24 AM I put my decorations up right around Thanksgiving/Hunting Season and take them down around Jan. 1. My reasoning is I have vacation around both of those time and it is less hectic in our household. So I get toe relax and take my time.
So last week I took everything down, cleaned the house and rearranged all the furniture. I love the clean fresh feel after the holidays.
Now I will spend the winter 'spring-cleaning' closet and drawers. So when spring and summer come I can play outside.

Posted - Jan 04 2014 : 05:41:35 AM I normally keep my tree up until January 6 to celebrate Epiphany. Even though it is getting dry, I still enjoy the beauty of all the ornaments and colored lights so taking it down early just is too hard for me to do!

Posted - Jan 03 2014 : 10:44:47 PM Our tree went out when my DS slid into it and knocked it over! Thankfully, I had already taken down the ornaments, so it was just the tree. And We have hardwood floors so cleaning up the water wasn't too bad. BUT, I would have like to keep it in the house just a little longer. Usually we take down the Christmas decorations the second week of Jan, when DS goes back to school. We didn't have any outside decorations this year. They were some of the "willing sacrifices" I made when we moved....sigh...

Posted - Jan 03 2014 : 7:16:28 PM Until the tree falls over... LOL! JUST KIDDING!!! My mother-in-law was Orthodox, so we usually wait until after Orthodox Christmas on January 7th, just to honor her memory and make the joyful meaning of the holiday season last. :) Hugs - Nini

Posted - Jan 03 2014 : 5:23:42 PM I don't have a specific date/time . . just when it works best, but usually by mid-January. This year I did very minimal/simple decorating and mostly with poinsettias and red items, most of which will stay through Valentines day. Anything definitely Christmas I'll put away in the next couple weeks and start replacing with Valentine decor.
If I put my snowman collection out for Christmas (didn't this year) they stay out through January. This year has been a very different Christmas in many ways! CJ

Posted - Jan 03 2014 : 5:14:57 PM Normally, mine go up the day after Thanksgiving and come down on the first, however, my dd will be 5 on the 16th, and she has asked that they stay up until after her birthday... how can I deny her that!?!?

Posted - Jan 03 2014 : 5:11:45 PM Mine go up one week before Christmas and come down one week after Christmas, New year's Day. For me, at least, too long up, it loses it specialness.

Posted - Jan 03 2014 : 4:22:27 PM It goes up December 2nd and comes down January 2nd. Except our outside lights. We keep those up until my son goes out and takes them all back down. And my snowmen stay up until I change out to Valentine decor.
