Is anyone else running behind getting prepared for Christmas? Last night we made all the presents from my 8 yo to everyone. Today I made the ones from my 6 yo to everyone. I still need to help my 10 yo make her gifts for her daddy, two of her brothers, and one of her sisters. I haven't even started everyone's Christmas Eve pajamas :/ Not to mention another gift for each of the kids.

As for baking - EEK! I have one batch of cookies done, and that is it!!!

Well, the baby is done nursing, so I'm headed back to work - Am I the only one running behind???

Annika - You are a ray of sunshine! SO right in all you have said. Thanks for the reminder! :) I'm okay. The light has always been there, I just had to remember to pull back the veil and step into the joy! Christmas IS here! Everywhere!!! Love you dearly, sister... Hugs - Nini

Ok sisters...BREATHE! Christmas will come, everything will be beautiful. I'm not actually behind, but I have so much else besides Christmas to get done that I may as well be. Yesterday I stepped back, took a long deep breathe and accepted the fact that I am only mortal I made a list of what I felt were essentials. Made another one of what I would really like to get done and I'm going to stick by it.Remember why we are having Christmas, stop and enjoy the magic for a few. Make up recipes that need to be chilled first, bake things that are quick between the chilling ones. Set timers...breathe! LOL! Christmas is a time of joy. If you race to the finish line a frazzled mess, you are missing that joy. It's so hard when you have little kids to not want to make it perfect, but remember to breathe once in a while. Love you all. I hope that my little pep talk helps Nini, I'm sending extra hugs and love. I know how hard it is to break through the sadness and pain to find the joy and light sometimes.

Love and light!

Women are angels. When someone breaks our wings, we just jump on our broomsticks and fly! We are flexible that way!

Never thought about robes! That is pretty neat, as well! I love the thought of wrapping yourself in love!

What an awesome tradition, Shannon! When our family's kids were little, our stepmother made them the most wonderful robes every year. All the kids really looked forward to that! Nothing like wrapping yourself in love! :)

I am extremely thankful we only give our kids 6 gifts each!!!! We do something you wear, something you read, something you want, something you need, something for a hobby, and something homemade.

Christmas Eve pajamas for the kids are now cut out - hoping I can get more material for hubby and mine this weekend.

YES, Shannon, I am right there with you!

We just put the tree up today and I have to take a look at what gifts I have for hubby (I buy throughout the year) to see if I need to adda anything.

My Girl Scout troop made some gifts for kids at a local shelter and I have been thinking we have plenty of time to get the items delivered. Ummmm….Tuesday is Christmas eve.

Where has the time gone?

Our small family has really cut back on the traditional Christmas cheer (?) of late. DH is divorced and has a grown daughter and I have no children. Everyone in my family lives distantly and we rarely go to see my parents in Wisconsin. We used to go to the ex-wife's for Christmas. DH's daughter still does but we do not. DH, his daughter and I usually go out to a movie and dinner on Christmas Eve and exchange gifts there. I only send a present out to my nephew who is 10 everyone else gets something or doesn't. I usually send stuff out to them during the year. We have had to cut back because of lack of space, energy and interest. It is all well!

Totally with you, Shannon... I am not even decorated yet. I've still got card writing, gift-wrapping, a few gifts to make, a visit to the butcher, and plenty of baking to do... Worst case scenario, I will resign myself to heading out to the Italian bakery for a few Christmas treats again this year if need be. They make such festive, delicious things... I don't think there's any shame in it at all! I have just been having such a hard time getting into the spirit this year - not me, don't like it one bit. There's just so much sadness happening all around us, and Friday is another eye injection, so I won't know how that affects my next few days until it's actually over. I'm pushing through, though. :) My hubby informed me this morning that he will have Monday and Tuesday off, which was just such a happy thing for me to hear. So today, I've started planning the weekend and days leading up to Christmas, and even though it's not going to be "full throttle Christmas Nini" - ;) - things are really starting to look merry and bright!

Hugs -

Nini

Shannon...

I am behind...I think Thanksgiving coming later than usual...slipped up on us and left us in a crunch for time to get everything ready for Christmas...things usually have a way of working out...so I am trying not to stress over it...we just have to do the best we can with the time we have...haven't started my baking either...hopefully by Saturday I will get some done...

Hugs!
