Anything?

I'm considering gifting Mom with a year's supply of homemade granola (made as needed). She loves it, and I have no idea what else to do different for her.

We sent my MIL (she lives 5 hours from us) a painting with our kids' handprints made into flowers and a butterfly. (We added the leaves with DH's and my thumbprints too) We shipped it to my BIL and SIL so they could add their family's prints too. My MIL will adore it. She's a flower gardener, and nothing makes her prouder than her grandkids!

For my own mama, I'm going to take her out to lunch and have a shopping day with her. We used to do it all the time, but since having my third babe it hasn't been easy to coordinate. I'm looking forward to that day!

Yes, carefree--that's what I want, too.

We're doing those little gifts for the moms, but I just want a nice little card and to do whatever it is I feel like doing. Might be going to get some flowers, might not. Might be eating ice cream for breakfast, might not :)

I got a very nice birthday card yesterday, from my mother, for my birthday (today). She said I was born on Mother's Day, and I was a gift to her. How neat is that?!

Jonni, grilling out sounds like a perfect idea.

I told my kids I just wanted peace in the house, and a clean house. I typically spend it planting flowers, but we are getting a cold night Sunday night this year. Anyway, I may just steal your idea of grilling out with the family. If I had a camper, we'd be camping (tent camping in the rain is not fun).

Thanks very much for the compliments to Violet, Emily Anna--she actually has her "favorite" Disney Princess dress on (though it isn't worn by her favorite Disney princess in the films---she's already a female with an opinion on clothing!). My husband is the photog--he uses instagram and a variety of different films for instagram. They each have a particular name and color sequence. Then he basically just plays around with the movement and puts different filters on until he's happy. This is one of my favorites in the last weeks, though, because of how magical it seems.

We made fairy gardens last year, Violet and I, and it was such a great project, Emily! Your mom will really like that, I know--there is SO much stuff out there to put in them, and if you hit thrift stores, you can find some lovely little cottages and things of that nature to set up your little village or what have you.

I sure hope everyone has a wonderful mother's day, whatever you give, receive or do!

Jonni,

I love your Violet theme......especially the picture of your too-cute daughter. Is she dressed up like little red riding hood? what program do you use to make the photos look like that? I absolutley LOVE it!

CJ, I have been keeping you and your husband in my prayers and I think of you often. Sooooo happy you get to spend Mothers' Day with your daughter! What a gift!

As far as my mom goes....she already has everything she wants. I think this year I will buy some supplies so we can make potted fairy gardens. I think she'll really like that. She loves violas so I'll make sure I get some of those for her to put in her garden!

Oh Cee Jay, what an amazing gift, indeed. I'm so glad you get to spend the holiday with your daughter--I am very much looking forward to doing the same with my mom, of course, after she gets off work at Kohls :) If it doesn't rain, we'll do some grillin' out!

Jonni,
Your "REAL" Violet is adorable!
Love all the ideas for gifting.

My mother passed away in February 1994 and my mother-in-law just passed away on April 15th of this year. We are celebrating Mothers Day in Tucson at my hubby's brother's home with our family in a memorial celebration of her life. She is the last of our parents to leave this earth so there will be no "gifts".
But the best gift of all? Will be that I get to spend Mothers Day with my daughter . . . an unexpected gift and surprise!
Thank you Lord!
CJ

What a great gift, Nini...so says the wino :) I'm glad that she is making plans to visit and such a great sounding trip!

Thanks, Sharon--she's something else. I love that photo, though. Justin must take about a million of her, but there's always one better than the last.

I sent my Mom a few bottles of specialty wine from one of our favorite local wineries. http://www.greendancewinery.com/products It was there the next day! She called last night simply beaming - she LOVED the gift idea. She loved the pretty bottles with the dancing frogs on the label - they made her giggle. She said she's going to save the bottles and use them as vases for pretty flower clippings from her garden, and can't wait to show them to her friends. She's also clearing her schedule to come out for another visit. We usually squirrel away time for an afternoon tea - just the two of us. But THIS time, she would like to go take a tour of the winery, visit their sister bakery and enjoy a picnic together out in the orchard! I can't wait! Hugs - Nini

Everyone's gifts sound perfect!

My Mom lives with us so we will be fixing a nice Brunch for her and gift her with some earrings I found on etsy and some flowers too.

My honey's mother loves roses so we are sending a beautiful rose bush to her via Jackson and Perkins (she lives in Maryland)

Jonni, I can't believe how much Violet has grown, she sure is beautiful.

I made my mom a basket of all natural cleaners, shampoos, body scrubs and ant killer (I know it was quite a mix of products, but all things she can use). My daughter made up the index cards with the recipes. We packaged it up pretty and took it to her already. She loved it. My daughters gave her a large container of red velvet and white chocolate cookies. This is the 1st year, that I knew months in advance what I was going to do. We also spent the day with her and helped her hang clothes, made lunch for her and take care of the animals. It was a fun day with just us girls.

We're giving homemade Violet jelly and Violet vinegar with a recipe for violet vinagrette dressing and a framed picture of this REAL Violet :)
