I did my little intro, but I thought I'd jump right in on this topic. My member name says it all. Any other Christmas or holiday junkies on board?
Christmas is a big deal in my home, with Halloween and St. Patrick's Day following a close second.

HA!! I do love Christmas decorations. One knows they "have the holiday décor bug" really bad when this summer our large market umbrella after nine years finally is in shreds (I've looked into a replacement cover but the wooded frame is showing wear too). So my hubby says, well we will cut the frame up for firewood and I'm thinking, "Hmmm, I just know this frame could be decorated like a Christmas tree somehow."
Once again, envisioning making yard art with a Christmas theme.

my mom made a tabletop christmas tree from medium size pinecones, and filled any gaps with small ones, used clear hot glue to hold everything together, then spray painted it pearl white, and when still wet, added clear prismatic glitter, sets it on a mirror on the table with candles lit on both sides, it sparkles from the candle light and reflects all over the room...

Becky, if you still need pinecone decorating ideas...my family is from Germany and both sides have vintage pinecone wreaths! I made one with my aunt once using a wire frame, and new pinecones pushed through it. Then I think we had to let them open up somehow...either by drying or soaking, I don't remember! Then once opened. We used a foam brush to dot the tips with white paint to resemble snow, and tied wired red berries onto them, finishing with a bow. A nice effect! You could also leave them natural and just use a pretty bow wired on (my grandmother's did not even have a bow but it was still beautiful!).
Something else I have done with them is to put some tiny rice lights inside a glass vase and fill it with pinecones to make a centerpiece. I agree that they are very cool looking - I too have made tree ornaments out of them since I appreciate a more natural, traditional tree for Yule.

I love all the Holidays. I have a Santa that I leave out until Easter. For Easter I have both families over for dinner every year. This year I requested that everyone bring there own place settings (non disposable) and gave prizes for Most interesting history, most festive and most creative carrying case. It was a big hit. Can't wait to see what happens next year.

Sherrie, I don't collect vintage Halloween, but I love looking at it. I'm not familiar with Yuletide though.

I collect vintage Halloween decor and also love Yuletide. Into Santas,elves,snowmen and country looking decor. Fall is my absolute favorite season with winter being 2nd...not that I don't appreciate Spring!

I love all the ideas. I remember once a friend of mine needed a gold lace trim and could not find it anywhere. So she took a piece of white lace trim outback hung it on her clothes line and sprayed painted it gold. When you were talking about the different trees, I liked the idea of a small table top tree and thought about painting each one the color of the holiday and then decorate it and have it sitting on a table for display.
As far as the pine cones I have all sizes. I have a medium size plastic tub full. The campus where I picked them up they are all different sizes and various stages of opening. I have used some as ornaments for my tree, and others in a wreath. I wanted to come up with a major project that would use the bulk on the outside. I was thinking about making a garland the length of my house and oh I don't know.

Well Becky, an all year tree is exciting. I'm right there with you on that idea. Years ago, I left my big tree up and decorated with basic things for Valentines Day and St. Patricks Day. After that I kinda got bored with it. However, my plan was to do the same again this year, but with a smaller tree. But for some reason, it's been "MISPLACED" and my husband couldn't find it where we store our stuff. I've been collecting Irish ornaments for years and finally think I have enough to decorate a full "small" tree. I've also been working on Fall like decorations the last 2 years and found a beautiful topper at the thrift store that's going to work perfect. Now, with Halloween I got a black small tree on clearance one year and that's super fun. We put purple ornaments on it, as well as purple lights. The biggest way to build up a supply of ornaments is picking them up after Christmas. It might take some time if you are looking for a particular color, but sooner or later you'll stumble upon some. Then if you have those as a base, you can decorate those with more details or start making some other ornaments to go along with the theme you want.
Do you have lots of BIG pine cones or are they those tiny ones? i love the tiny ones? It sounds like you've done some searches for ideas though and you didn't have any luck?

I am a Christmas junkie. Actually I keep some Christmas decorations up all year. I am planning on making something, not quite sure yet with pinecones. They are in abundance on the college campus where I attend classes. I have about 300 collected so far. Any ideas would be great as there are so little out on the web. I was thinking about making an outdoor garland with them and sea shells since I live in Florida.
As for the other holidays, some I like others not so much. My husband had come up with an idea for an artificial Christmas tree. Leaving in up year round and decorate it for the holiday of the month. An idea I am still playing around with. What do you think?
