Just wondered if any of you are taking down or putting away some ofy our summer trimmings from outside and breaking out the pumpkins and the gourds? I decorated two grapevine wreaths today with apples, flowers and a berry garland and hung one on each of my porches. I also got out my scarecrow and stuck him on the porch. My grandson was terrified when he first saw it! DH also says we have about a dozen pumpkins in the garden. My impatiens are gorgeous in front of the house and barn. I got my little John Deere wagon out and loaded it up with gourds and placed it by my barn. I also got a wicker cornucopia and put gourds in it and put it in the middle of my dining room table. Being a woman who has a few hot flashes, I am ready for a little coolness! How about the rest of you? Any scarecrows on your porches yet? Susan

yep, we got it all out today!! Scarecrow for the front porch (My 6yo LOVES him), changed out our seasonal table inside and other Fall goodies outside. I don't do scary and we wait til after my Benjamin's birthday (on the 29th of Sept.) to do pumpkins. It is just too hot still in TN to have carved pumpkins out in the sun. They rot and it is yucky.

I have more I want to do but it was a fun start with the children today.

i've had fun decorating my daughter's home and garden for autumn since being here for the birth of our new granddaughter. i got several HUGE mums for her front yard .. and a gigantic pumpkin for her autumn garden 'vignette' -- along with one of those big scarecrows ... and a painted sign that says 'autumn harvest' .. and two big wood crows on a stick .. plus i got her an autumn wreath for her front door and another big mum (in shades of reds) ... inside i got another wreath for the table centerpiece .. put a big pumpkin smelling candle in the middle .. got some autumn candies and dishes ... napkins and dish towels with scarecrows on them. with the new baby ,.. i just knew she would not find time to do this. also, i got her lots and lots and lots of spring bulbs which i will plant in her gardens this week for a spring-time surprize.

i decorated cabin creek farm BIG TIME AUTUMN before leaving to visit ohio. autumn .. my most favorite season., (spring IS a close second though!)

Three weeks ago I had some wreaths to make as birthday presents so I made one for my front door with leaves, pumpkins, apples gourds and sunflowers. On my front porch I have a crock on a wicker table filled with sunflowers, mums, cattails, bittersweet and wheat. My red rocker sits to the side of a sage green bench and at the opposite end we have some haybales, a scarecrow and soon pumpkins.
My little hurricane lamps are in the front windows lit and I will line up mini pumpkin gourds along the middle ledge of my windows.
I have a picket fence garden out at the street and I usually add a scarecrow and a fall leaf garland to the fence along with the montauk daisies, mums and remaining sunflowers still blooming. Don't put pumpkins out there, they end up stolen or smashed.
Did you guess...I LOVE FALL!

I have a huge old fish bowl in front of my dining room window and with each holiday I fill it with hundreds of pieces of candy--so right now it is filled with candy corn! Other than a few vintage fall decorations I try to keep things pretty natural by just filling up baskets with apples and old ironstone bowls filled with gourds. BTW, I can relate to your hot flashes and looking extremely forward to brisk (by some people's standards:) weather!!!
