Today, the first day of spring, is also the Persian New Year of 1391! My husband is originally from Iran and every year we celebrate the Nowruz(spelled many different ways), Persian New Year. I've written about how we celebrate and the history of it in the past years here.
I've been writing about how my family celebrates Nowruz. This year I am attaching a You Tube link to show you Iran and the beautiful haf sinn tables that are decorated for the holiday. My haf sinn is nice, but no where near as beautiful as the ones in the video.
Our feast is ready and we will put our sprouts on a small boat and release it in the Chippewa Flowage this weekend at my late parents cabin.
Happy New Year, Happy Spring too all you wonderful farmgirls!

Posted - Mar 23 2012 : 4:37:26 PM Hi Dawn - Happy spring to you too. That was a very interesting video - I love the symbolism they use with the seven foods that start with S (in Persian). Hope your celebration was wonderful.
