It would not be a typical New Year if we did not attempt to make resolutions! Anyone care to share?

I want to keep the weight that I lost off.
I want to keep my mouth shut more often, for weight and many other reasons!
I want to keep learning.
I want to give more, and think of myself less.
I want all of you to have a good year, and to share it with us here on this site!

Happy New Year everyone!

I figure if I get two out of three done, I'm doing good!

House goes on market this weekend
Already have a last day set for work March 18
Wedding May 29

Here's how I hope to accomplish the others:lots of help from his family!
Once move to OKC, will live with MIL for a while
We'll probably buy something pretty quickly either in the country nearby or in town (small house, big yard)and hopefully get to plant a few things this spring
Will have his Grandma (one mile away) start teaching me how to quilt, and I'm hoping to get his cousin's wife to join me in a quilting circle. Hopefully, she can teach me how to sew (beginning stuff) too.

Did I mention that we are planning to attend a wedding in Chennai India in August? and then touring INdia for a month by motorcyle for our honeymoon? That's if I'm not pregnant.

So I'll keep everyone informed of how crazy I've gotten from trying to do too much this year!

Boy Julie, that's quite a list!!!
Are you planning on doing all those things this year? My advice is, get pregnant after you've done all those other things. You aren't going to be able to do much when your tummy starts getting bigger. And after the baby is born, you can forget getting ANYTHING done, lol!!!!

By the way, congrats Dave. You sound so in love! She should kidnap you and take you to elope this week-end.

Dave, congratulations! Hope you will be very happy. It takes work, patience and love. I'm still working on the patience part myself! One thing I found in the last 2 years is to let things go. I don't mean things which shouldn't be let go (like the leaking roof or sink), but things which aren't important in the big picture...sometimes you just have to let go... so my so called resolutions are get things in order - save more, spend less, decide what's really important in my life. Things (an over used word if there ever was one) are taking on a new significance to me at this time in my life. I just want to find more positive energy, get healthier, eat better, read more, get rid of "stuff" which is in the way. I started this last year and want to continue...placed a few ads this week to do just that...how much "stuff" does a person need...that sort of idea.

Ditto on Congrats Dave on your upcoming marriage! All the best to you and your fiance. Patience is something I have always grappled with! I think I was born impatient! I vow to allow myself to be more patient in 2005 with many issues I am dealing with in mid-life! I am a "TYPE-A" on steroids and for health reasons I need to relax more and focus that negative energy into something positive...More random acts of kindness to others, give more smiles to strangers, say more hellos and how are you to others, in other words, connect on a human level with the souls I cross every day... write more letters to people I have not seen or talked to in a long time and use the USMail more than email. There is something so special about the penned word on paper. I think it is the little things that I will focus on this year...Much less network news watching, More reading of history and books that I enjoy like old classics...The Good Earth, Little Women, Where the Red Fern Grows, books from childhood and high school days. And yes, I need to de-clutter and organize my stuff, update my scrapbooks, clean out clothes for goodwill, re-dig my rose beds, finish my 9-11 memorial painting, learn to upholster furniture, take a woodworking class to build cedar chests for my girls, plan an inexpensive getaway with my husband this June for our 25th anniversary, lose some weight, ect... But most of all...stop worrying so much, start living more, and love this life and the precious people around me. Happy New Year to all of you. You dear people have brought joy.

Congrats Dave ! Yes patience is a virtue and don't forget..."Good things come to those that wait!"
New Year comes to our house with the tradition of looking back at the past year to see your accomplishments (some years better than others) but it certainly gives us a positive way to start the new year. I am always surprised by the amount of things on each of our lists however small they might seem, they are things we hadn't done before!
My plan for the new year is to set MY house in order. A couple serious health scares this past year made me really stop and think about what would happen if I weren't holding it all together and the realization was my husband and son would just be overwhelmed by all my crazy organization(or lack thereof...)and that I really need to do a thorough cleaning, organizing and filing. I am a flea market/yard
sale /thrift store treasure hunter so my little house is full of "treasures" that my pack rat nature couldn't live without! I am hoping that once I move my sewing into the laundry room alot of this will be contained and organized there. As always... my yard and garden are places I hope to spend time improving and finishing some projects. If you aren't happy with where you are living , it's kind of hard to get the rest of it together so that is where I am starting and the rest will follow...I hope! Peace and and a blessed new year to all of you!

with a happy heart

2005 is here and I can finally say Barb and I will be married next year. Patience is a virtue, but at age 56, it is even more a virtue, after waiting 3 years, two being engaged...so say next year, is joyous to me..Happy New Year Everyone.....chickendave

Setting intentions! This is good!So often so much in our lives seems to occur without any forethought. I have found that I have fewer unwanted surprises when I set my intentions daily.
Don't get me wrong. I am not a strict list follower or anything but I find my life so much more productive and stress free when I have a daily plan of sorts.
My new year intentions follow this path.
I will have two, count them two, fully functional new knees by May and I will get my chickens this year!!
Got the chicken tractors and the straw bale chicken house last year.
I will plant my small vineyard in the early spring.
I will also plant my small orchard in the spring.
Got the clearing done last year for both.
I will lose at least 40 pounds this year that I gained as a result of the bad knees!Got a good start already as the pain medication causes all food to taste bad!!
I will complete the sheetrocking of the upper floor of my pole building as well as putting in at least two more windows. It is far to dark in here to do any art.
I will build an out door earth oven and begin the foundation for our cobb/straw bale bath house.
I am excited about the prospects for this new year and looking forward to all of its gifts
I am grateful for all of this past years challenges and accomplishments.
I am grateful for all of you.
Eileen
