Posted - Nov 12 2012 : 3:34:15 PM A neighbor of mine said they do it at Christmas and call it being ELFed. Too cute. Never did this but will next year. Halloween was a big deal up north when I was growing up. Now my daughter lives on a farm in NC and all my grandgirls do is "Trunk or treat." This will give us a little something extra fun. Thanks so much for the idea. Joey

Posted - Nov 06 2012 : 12:13:59 PM Wow, great idea! Wonder if it could be revised for other holidays... like for Christmas... could it be called, "Tree-ing?" Not sure I like that... what would you call it? How about for Valentine's Day? Oh, and "Shamrocked" for St. Patrick's Day or "Showered" or "Egged" for Easter?

Posted - Sep 30 2012 : 11:39:18 AM Lori - that is such a neat idea! We actually do something similary by "playing Santa" at Christmas and "playing the Easter Bunny" at Easter for our elderly neighbors... but I like your "ghosting" idea, too! I really love the idea of doing special, unexpected things for our neighbors... maybe we'll incorporate "ghosting" into our fall celebrations as well! Thank you for sharing - and for the poem, too! :) Hugs, Nini

Posted - Sep 29 2012 : 08:18:26 AM I think I'll do a "ghosting" again this year. Lori, I had never heard of this, but it was so much fun. I didn't call the person we ghosted to, but I watched to see when they got home. Marly

Posted - Oct 06 2009 : 09:24:01 AM This is so much fun, my daughter does so many families. One year we did older friends and we made soup and bread and fruit in the Halloween buckets- we had to try and be careful of what some neighbors can eat. I always call after to let them know who it came from, because I don't want the hard work going to waste. Natalie is doing all the kids she babysits for this year- and has been watching for special things to put in the buckets- we are going to do our ghosting on the 16th.

Posted - Oct 06 2009 : 08:01:50 AM Ohhh haha, I work at the UPS Store and someone came in last weekend and made copies of a ghost and a poem thing. I asked if it was for a party or something and they said it was for putting on your friends/neighbors doors or something. That's a cute idea :) |

Posted - Sep 25 2009 : 2:49:23 PM Here is the poem that we use:
You've Been ghosted!!
Late last night, we left you a treat. The tradition is fun, one we hope you'll repeat.
Take the ghost and pin it on your door, to let others know, you need ghosted no more.
Now it's your duty to pass on the surprise, to three more families, we must advise.
Gather some treats and deliver them soon, within two nights, under the light of the moon.
Include a ghost with each package you give, along with this poem for the tradition to live.
Enjoy!! |
