i know the summer equinox is well past, but i wanted to know what you look foward to during summer? especially when you get "summer fever".
i love the thunderstorms we get around here. and watching the lightening. last year i loved running through the sprinkler with my dog to cool off, but it hasn't been hot enough to do that yet this year. also, being able to bbq all the time.

Elizabeth, he will love you forever :)

Read the recipe first before making them so you have an idea of how long they take. They are easy to make, just time-consuming. Once you make the marshmallow creme they need to sit for several hours. Keep us posted!

Oh wow. I recently started a list about things I love about summer, and came up with a whole page. I think I will just post it on my blog. Just a few: Driving down the road with my hand out the window in the wind with nowhere in particular to go; thunderstorms- and the more violent the better;
walks in the evenings with all the insects noise and the fading light and heat; the smell of our freshly cut hayfields; sundresses; going barefoot; fresh vegs......... so much more. Summertime is my favorite!

i love going out on our boat...it's so peaceful. i make a nice picnic lunch and take some books/magazines. i start out reading and always end up falling asleep in the sun. ...sometimes do a little smooching out there with hubby, too!!

Sharon always has amazing recipes! I can't wait to make her blackberry syrup this weekend! We are STILL harvesting berries--woo hoo!

I always look forward to the way things seem to sloooooooow down in the summer. I don't feel as badly about sitting in the porchswing most of the afternoon with a good book, or the baby girl.

I REALLY look forward to the summer antique festivals and 4h fairs, too.

Some other favorites of summer? Summer food...fresh pesto from the garden, freshly made past sauce from our heirloom tomatoes. Digging potatoes and cutting green beans for supper.

Butterflies...we have all kinds, but especially the swallowtails. I plant extra parsley just for their larvae!!!

Elizabeth,

Here it is on my blog:

http://merryheartjournal.blogspot.com/2009/05/homemade-marshmallows.html

They are AMAZING! I have been making them for almost 13 years (since I've been married). I found out that my husband loved marshmallows so I decided to try making them. Nothing compares! Oh, and you can toast them multiple times too!

Let me know how it goes if you try them :)

oh my gosh! homeade marshmallows! i was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing this recipe... my hubby LOVES marshmallows and he would be thrilled if i could homemake them. and yes, grilling is also very fun in the snow... it's a nice way to keep warm and have a nice hot dinner after standing out in the cold.
