So it's kinda late to be asking, but does anyone have any quick project ideas for mother's day?

i sent my future MIL flowers, this is the first mother's day for her and i to share but not offical so i didn't want to go over board. and really who doesn't love to get flowers. wait maybe i'm just projecting on that last part

but my mother has said all she wants from now until the day she dies is resturant gift cards. she says she doesn't need any junk to take up space. but i'm not gonna lie i feel like a bad daughter giving her just gift cards. i thought about flowers, but delivery would kill me on that so maybe by some stroke of luck i could get some from the store though not planning on it.

I would like something little to add on to the gift card, any ideas?

I'ld like to say Happy Early Mother's day to all you fine mamas out there too!

My kids always give me several hanging plants for the summer. One year they gave me a rocking chair for the deck made by the Amish.

Oh yes! I like the idea of the magazine subscription--Country Living is always offering a deal, and there are some good tried and true cooking magazines that our nice, too. Taste of Home is really nice. You could simply pay for it online, and then make a cute little card to add to the giftcard. Magazine subscriptions are a gift each month!

I'm with Gail, but buy the flowers and plant them for her. That way she's got them year round and doesn't have to do the work! If you live close enough that is..

Magazine subscribtions, local paper that she reads.. you could pick up the tab for that for the year, or a few months if it's real expensive..

Hmm thanks Joanna, she's not much of a reader but that does help my brain going.

Does she like to read? If so, why not make her a bookmark with your picture on it with a cute saying. This way it is "useful" and it is something special. .. and she will always think of you every time she uses it.

As a MIL for 14 years, and a daughter in law for almost 40, a favorite gift for me as well as one my MIL always appreciates is a gift card to a local nursery - it is the season for gardens, and I always find many beautiful flowers, herbs and veggies to add to my garden. Hope this gives some of you an idea - Happy Mother's Day to all.

OH ps you could get extra nice dinner gift certificates as well. In Kansas there is several places that offer dinner AND a show. There's one that is a saloon show, in our historic Cowtown place. Then there is one that is in a elderberry vineyard-dinner and theater show, and then there is one in a classic (been there for many many decades) theater-has different stage productions and dinner served with it. All those seem extra nice to me.

PS I am like your mother in not liking "junk" piling up, but one thing I do like people to give me is season passes to my favorite places-zoo, science museum, Silver Dollar City, etc.

If there is a place like maybe a history museum or something that she likes maybe that would be nice......I don't know.

I vote food. My mil loves tea and hot chocolate, and has specifically told us, that she always wants new mugs for such, she likes large ones. lol I also have given her candy with said mugs, but she usually isn't too thrilled about the candy...the mugs in themselves make her very happy. lol

It's a shame cause my mother loves cameral apples, but the only ones i have foudn are really expsenive "gourmet" ones and she's been having work done on her teeth so i've not even sure it's a good idea. I'm at loss right now. I wish i would have realized how quick this holiday had creeped up. Fathers day is going to be even tougher.

Maybe some nice candies or coffees or something that is perishable? You could always pretty it up with really nice china mugs are something like that and tuck the gift card in it??
Im trying to figure the same thing out here. My MIL is in Ohio, and money is tight, so its the extra incentive to get creative. :D
