Hello Farm Gals!

After reading a thread about how everyone's trees were decorated I had an idea about exchanging Christmas ornaments. With the thoughts and advice of some very experienced Farmgirls, I've tweaked the idea a bit and have come up with an exchange that I think will be fun. Following are the guidelines. Please note, you are not committing to a whole year of gifties. You sign up when you want to participate.

Seasonal and Holiday Giftie Exchange

Current Theme: Valentine's / Love
Deadline to sign-up : Jan. 15th
Match ups announced: Jan. 16th
Ship dates by : Feb. 7th

* ongoing exchange throughout the year, new themes will be announced as they come up. You can post to each exchange individually as they arise.

* handmade item valued around $5 or less

* item can be anything relating to the current theme... Frannie said it well..."HAND-DID ... can be 'anything' within the theme ... card-art, altered book, teeny dollie, pin cushion or other sewie, small painting or hand-did wood item, etc. etc. etc. .. determined by each maker's skills, materials, interests, and imagination."

* post that you want to be included Please include:
Name, hobbies, color preferences, etc.... This will help the maker of the giftie. (You will switch addresses only with your match.)

* names will be matched by random "pulling from the hat"

* groups will be of 3 or 1 on 1.

* matched names will be notified

* matched names will email each other with mailing info.

* ladies will come back to this thread to tell us all about their goodies!!

The first theme deadline is coming up quick. In the future, I will give more notice than this.

I love hearing about everyones swaps....I have to share what Jenny sent me- a lovely handstitched pillow with pretty handmade lacey edges that says "Farmgirl at Heart" with adorable buttons in pinks and greens...also the most lovely little card that says " Happiness Must be Grown in One's Own Garden"- a good thought for our spring plantings! Oh, she also sent one of her dishsoap aprons- it is so cute and really livens up the dishwashing time every day!!! You should look at them on her etsy shop- they are an inexpensive way to add a little perk to the sink, they might even fit some little dolls. My husband even commented on what a neat idea it was- that is saying something since he once had to sit me down to tell me that he did not need the step by step progress reports on my projects to appreciate them- honey said that he enjoyed the overall effect of a handmade home, just not the details. Fair enough since at the time I had no girlfriends nearby to share my little 'mades' with- I am sure I drove him nuts asking him which stitch looked the best etc!!!
Well this was sure fun and I can't wait to do it again- Have a Happy Valentine's Day Girls!
XOXOXO, Rebekka

Catherine, what a coincidence!! I was just coming to write that i got your beautiful cross-stitch sachet. I just love the way it smells and the work is exquisite.

Ladies, it's four pretty hearts with their tails pointing toward the center of the fabric with a lovely border and a bow. Just perfect! thank you so much, Catherine!!

BTW, Cindy Lou thinks we should put a banner on Jenny's van that says "Moscow or Bust" for the trip to the fair. What a great idea!

Love,
Patricia

Patricia / Utahfarmgirl!!!!! I received my heart today. I barely got to it 'cause my girls love these farmgirl packages and they act like they're theirs! I think I need to set up some new rules about opening mail.

Thank You Thank You THANK YOU!!!! The colors are perfect and the sentiment just grand.

Gals, Patricia sent me a stuffed heart made from a soft beige colored fabric with flowers. She stitched large "nesting" hearts on the front and vines and flowers around them. The sentiment that was stitched was, "Always and Forever".

You gals are so much fun!

Blessings

Marcia -

It was fun to do. Glad you like them. I have to admit I about glued my fingers together getting those hearts to stay together - always have superglue remover when using the stuff. DH kept asking me what I was doing - stuff all over the dining table while I worked on them. I tried to explain about the "Giftie" exchange but he just scratched his head and said "Glad to see you doing something creative". Again this was fun - I had a good time.

Mine is here! My partner was Anne and she did such a great job! I'll describe what she sent and see if I can get a picture of it later(I think we need batteries.) Anne made these adorable ornaments using heart cookie cutters--2 joined together and decorated with felt hearts and beads and ribbon. They came in a heart box with Dove chocolates too. Oh...and a great Mail Art Valentine's Day card to go with.
I've already emailed Anne a thank you for everything so I'll tell you all what I told her. I think she can see into my house!I have a big birch branch in my dining room with lights on it that I decorate for the holiday and/or season. There wasn't a thing on the tree until tonight. I'll get some pictures after I put the rest of the docrations on the tree. Thanks Anne!

I can't wait!I've been crocheting like mad, not sure how many "gifties" to make... And Catherine, it was so good to talk to you about the starter; to have a voice to go with the name. Maybe someday we'll all be technologically fit and add pictures to our profiles!
