My mom's poor neighbor---her elderly mother, whom she cares for in her home, fell very ill late last night and is in the hospital (they just called, and she has taken a turn for the worse) and one of her three brothers went into hospice care at the beginning of the week because his liver is failing him (long history of drug use and alcoholism--he has refused treatment and transplant isn't an option), and he isn't expected to make it past the holiday...so my mother's poor neighbor doesn't have anything done that she planned on doing for the remainder of her family. Mom and I are going to go over this evening while she is at the hospital and wrap all her gifts for her, and make some of the food items she needed to get done. She still intends to try to have Christmas for her grandkids.

It's very sad, but at least my first job as a gift wrapper at Macy's will come in very handy! I can whip through a pile of gifts in no time, and it's the least we can do...
