Posted - Dec 16 2005 : 6:49:48 PM I am making bean bag chairs for the kids for Christmas and I'm cringing to think of buying packing peanut stuffing..I don't want to create some negative eco-karma.. Does anyone have any alternative ideas? I'm a little stuck. thanks! Julia

Posted - Dec 16 2005 : 8:11:33 PM Julia- Here are a few options- -shredded fabric scraps (towels work well) this would create a firmer sitting surface- I have done this with huge floor pillows. - In Natural Home last year they recommended using wadded up plastic bags for bathroom pillows (recycled and squishy- you could get some from the supermarketrecycle container if you ask) - There are organic hemp bean bags for sale on the internet, find out what they are stuffed with - Finally recycled packing peanuts from friends and neighbors christmas packages(the kind that is biodegradable dissolves when wet so watch out!) Good Luck-Rebekka |
