This year I decided there had to be a more ecological friendly way to wrap presents. Every year we throw away TONS of wrapping paper and it just drove me crazy. So my solution was to use brown craft paper. I then used pieces of cloth ribbon and raffia to decorate.
Here is the great part-- when we are done unwrapping our gifts the brown kraft paper goes into my new raised beds for my kitchen garden we are putting next to the house!
If you want to get even more thrifty and eco friendly reuse brown grocery bags for wrapping smaller gifts. They work great.

Thats a great idea Sleepless. My mom has had the same little gift bags since we were in our pre teens. We are all grown up now and some of us married with our own kiddos. We still use the same bags. ;)

Ithink I've mentioned this in years past, but I made fabric bags years ago (like 15 years ago) and we've used those same bags since. Christmas fabric is usually inexpensive...we've used the same(grossgrain) ribbon all that time too! We do have paper for gifts that go to others and the Santa stuff always comes in Santa paper!

I like that idea! I actually found a roll of kraft paper at work that was given to me. It will work this year for everything!
One year, my mother wrapped everything in a gift. Kitchen utensils and napkins were wrapped in one of the napkins and tied with a bow. Or a few shirts were wrapped up with a fleece blanket. Everything looked so beautiful!

Hey Tamara, that's a great idea. I love the bags, too, because I hate wrapping.
You can stamp on the brown paper wrapping to give it a little more pizazze.
