Posted - Dec 04 2005 : 11:40:39 AM Hi everyone!
I recently saw a really neet-o craft idea where empty wine bottles are made into pretty lighted potporri decorations.
I have bulk lavender and would LOVE to turn this into such a project.
Does anyone know how to do this
I don't have a digital camera to show everyone an example . Pictire a regular wine bottle, any color It has potpourri in it and a small strand of christmas lights. The lights gently heat the potpourri and makes the room smell good. The neck is decorated with ribbons that match the color of the lights.
Thanks in advance!
p.s. I didn't know where to properly post this so please excuse |

My friend, Marilyn, made a wonderful "wine bottle" tree which is on one side of the lane at her farm. When she was collecting the various colored bottles from us, we all thought she was nuts and it was going to be horrible but we should have known better. She had her husband make the skeleton of the tree by welding bits of re-bar. Then she slid the bottles onto the "branches" and Voila! It is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset when the low rays of the sun hit the bottles just right.
Good luck with your project.

Posted - Dec 05 2005 : 05:45:49 AM Anna, I think craft stores sell small strands of lights that are battery operated - might be how they are in the bottle? Hard to drill a hole without the bottle breaking. |

Posted - Dec 05 2005 : 03:36:16 AM The lights are somehow IN the bottle with the potpourri...and that's the puzzler. There's a hole for the wire and plug at the bottom/side. Bows and coordinated fancy trimmings are around the neck of the bottle it sits on a table and is plugged into a wall outlet |

Posted - Dec 04 2005 : 3:29:58 PM Anna .. are the lights IN .. or AROUND the bottle? Does the bottle sit on a table or is it on wire or ribbon and hanging?
I once saw an assortment of clear glass vintage salt and pepper shakers extended in a circle (linked together with wire) and hanging from a light fixture. Wonder if the heat from the lights would warm up potpourii (especially if 'scented oil' is in there with the pot pourii? Sounds a 'little' like what you saw.
