Posted - Mar 18 2008 : 07:06:12 AM OOOO Alee, Boondock Saints is one of my favorite movies ever!
Our corned beef cooked sooooo long it was so tender it fell apart as soon as I put the serving fork in it to get it out of the pot. I had to use tongs instead! LOL! 'twas a great St. Paddy's Day!

Posted - Mar 16 2008 : 12:58:00 PM I have a lot of Irish in my family tree and I love celebrating St. Paddy's day. We bought a corned beef to slow cook, and I am going to make some cabbage sides and such. We also are going to watch our favorite St. Paddy's day move: "Boondock Saints" and I will probably download all sorts of Irish music to listen to! :D

Posted - Mar 05 2008 : 07:15:50 AM We're Irish, me on my grans' side and my husband is 100%. His full name is Justin Paul Aloysius Lynch (named after 3 Saints), and is the first male grandchild in a SEVERELY Irish Catholic family--his Paul Aloysius is also his father, and grandfather's name.
We celebrate quietly now, usually just the two of us because when we met, he played 4 years in a rockus Irish band (think U2 meets the Pogues) and they played about a gazillion times every St. Patricks day, plus every Thursday at the local Irish pub where we met (and had our wedding reception)...so he got a little "Irished" out, but is still proud of his heritage. We just celebrate with less pomp and circumstance now :) I always make Irish Stew (using Guiness) and colcannon. He really isn't a fan of cabbage, but if it's in the potates he doesn't notice so much. We wear green, but nothing with shamrocks. I'm not much for that--I have some really beautiful jewelry that I purchased in Ireland that I wear too...doesn't "scream" Irish, but I know what it's about.

Everyone has their green on (I have a great orangish plaid skirt that I wear too...) and I make all the fixin's and break out the Guinness and the Jameson...good good day St. Patty's Day! ERIN GO BRAUGH!

Posted - Mar 04 2008 : 07:45:24 AM Not at all out of date, I think that's great and sounds delicious! I celebrate it in some form every year. I'm part Irish on my mother's side and she still calls to make sure I'm wearing green that day.
