If you would, please say a prayer for my grandma. She fell Wednesday and broke her hip and had surgery today. Seems to be doing well. My mom and I will go and stay with her tomorrow.
Thank you all so very much!

Oh Bonnie, I am so glad Grandma did go to rehab. I sure the hosp. wouldn't discharge her until she did the rehab. and grandpa will just have to wait. How is he doing? Your grandma remains in my thoughts. MB

I want to thank you all again for replying and for your prayers. Grandma did move into the hospital rehab and is excercising daily. She is in some pain, but she is up and moving and has had no complications. That truly is a miracle!
Thanks girls! (((HUGS)))

I just saw this posting. Sure hope your Grandma heals quickly and without any problems. So scary when they get older and the bones are weakened. My thoughts are with all of you.

So glad to hear she is doing well. I am amazed at how active they have patients right after surgery these days, but it is so much better . . . they seem to heal quicker, regain agility sooner, have less chance of pnuemonia or blood clots and I think emotionally when you feel you are doing something "pro-active" in your own health, it really helps keep depression away. The best thing you and your family can do is to continue to be your grandma's "cheerleaders." Hope things are going well with "Grandpa" as it sounds like he can be "hardnosed". I think sometimes men, especially from that era, don't know how to show emotion, so instead they respond in a way that seems attacking or grumpy. My own grandpa died when I was very young, but the memories I had of him were very gruff. Looking back and having heard stories, I realize that deep down he was a softy. He was just from that "real men don't cry" generation. Sneak up on him with a hug! It will probably scare the gizzards out of him, but deep down, it will warm his soul. Blessings to you all!

Brenda

BONNIE,
GOOD NEWS. So far so good. Will she be able to go home? Or does she have to go to a rehab place for therapy? How is your Grandpa doing?

Bonnie,
So sorry to hear about your Grandmother. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. So glad to hear she is doing well. When she goes home, she should have a home care nurse checking on her for a few weeks to check her labs...she'll be on Coumadin for a while. She will also have a home Physical Therapist come to make sure she is following her hip precautions and working with her to get her walking again! Give her a hug from this farmgirl...

We visited with Grandma yesterday. She looked wonderful for having surgery the day before. No word on how long she will be in there. She was out of bed for breakfast, which is great. They are still trying to get her sugar to normal and giving her antibiotics. But she seemed to be mostly comfortable and very talkative.
Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes, means the world to me!
XO

I hope she is doing better at this point. My friends Mom broke her hip on Christmas Eve and she is actually getting around better than before she fell. Keep us posted on her progress. Big Hugs, Lu

Lifted up in prayer, Bonnie!

If it's any comfort, my 86 yo grandmother fell (on her birthday) while trying to move a reclining chair earlier this year (why, on her birthday, she felt the need to move the chair for vacuuming I'll never know.) She was in a lot of pain for a while...still is, several months later...but she is up and moving around, even went shopping with us at Christmas. She had to have a couple of vertibres fused, or some such thing she tells me. This is the second time this woman has done serious damage to her back (she tells people it's been broken twice)...those old women are much tougher than we younger models, lol!

Thank you so much, ladies. I can't tell you what it means to me. We are going to go see her today, and it's warmed up enough that the salt will melt the ice on the roads, so that is good.
I just don't want her to suffer, and I am praying for my grandfather to be reasonable. He has never been an easy man to be around, and very demanding. I am just praying he realizes things have got to change.
Well, girls thank you again= Big (((HUGS))) to all of you!
