I'm so honored and excited--my sister in law, Alivia, just asked me to be our nephew's godmother (Max). It's so poignant for me because my husband and she are not very close, but I have really tried to cultivate a relationship with her because, well, I love her. She's a wonderful person and is such a good mother, and she has forgiven my husband for a lot of things that I personally would have sent him walking for--she is generous of spirit. They were children of a very problematic marriage and though her childhood was less than perfect, she made it through to see her life in a new light, but he still muddles through at times.
I was never blessed with a large family, so this just makes my year.

Thanks so much, girls. I really am so excited. I've never been asked before and, like I said, in light of my husband's "issues" with family, I really just think it's grand! When I told him, he seemed very happy, and I was relieved. You just never know how things will hit someone...
So, if I'm the godmother, what kind of cool stuff do you get a boy!!!
I need a christening gift to start.
Jump right in, suggestions are needed!

I agree with the gals; Max's mom obviously saw a loving and kindred spirit in you, and I bet he adores you, too. See, your love and good will are bringing the family closer together than would be otherwise. Congratulations! Nance

That is wonderful, Jonni! What a blessing you will be to Max!

How wonderful Jonni,

She must really think a lot of you to want to give that honor. She is very lucky to have someone like you in her life and now in her son's life. I think she chose well!

Congratulation, Jonni! What an honor! I bet she picked you because she sees the same qualities in you that you see in her. You both sound like special women. Max is lucky.
