So....hubby and were talking, and we realize that the youngest ones were cheated of traditions, zoo trips and family activities. As the older ones grew up and got jobs, and cars, we seem to have lost the mojo for these things.

So....in light of that discussion. I am digging out the outdoor lights and getting some up. We used to really make the house look nice, and the older kids seem bored and depressed.

Looks like I have some work to do....

Bumping this up. Why?

My 11 year-old is approaching her 12th birthday in a few months. She was begging for a "Halloween" party, because this was her first year not going "trick or treating."

Then I was reminded of my own childhood. I loved to dress up and such, and of course get all that candy.

So we had a little party. We all kind of dressed up - me in a pink wig and fancy sunglasses (hilarious at that), and got lots of and lots of party food.

We kind of over did it, but she had fun, and now has the memories. I may have to walk a bit more on the treadmill today, to work off those chocolates and chips, but life is short.

Enjoy your kids while you can.

Don't feel bad. I was a "cheated" child. The last of 4 children with a 13-16 year age gap. Yeah, I missed out on a lot that my other three siblings enjoyed. BUT.... I had my own perks too. I got away with a lot more simply because my folk didn't have the "mojo" to fight me about it all. It all balances out, and now I still LOVE hearing the stories of my siblings growing up together, and they are all very tender towards me as their baby sister, so again, there are perks, even though we are a little cheated.

We have two types of lights up outside, but need outdoor extension cords. Phooey. Hubby says we are tighter on the budget this week than last week. Hmpf. I guess I will search stores today (online) and see what kind of prices were looking at. Praying I find some very low prices, or someone who has extras we can borrow. :)

i love the lights. they look so cheerful driving by. one year, i had had a particularly bad day at work, but when i turned the corner into our street, and saw the house all lite up, i felt so much better.
