Hello :) Not sure if this is the correct place for this but here goes ;) A growing nationwide movement, Day of the Deployed has been celebrated every October 26 since 2006. It’s a time for Americans to reaffirm their patriotism and allegiance to flag and country, and to honor the brave men and women in uniform who are selflessly putting their lives on the line to protect and preserve America. PLEASE REMEMBER Our Men & Women in uniform on this special day. Thank You

Thanks again for those links!

We have a family friend who is due to be deployed very shortly to Afghanastan. He is one who trains the Marines to train the bomb sniffing dogs. Very cool, but very sad. We keep an LED candle in the window at all times and a flag on the mail box.

God bless and thanks to all!!

Have never heard of this!
Thank you for the links as well!

Deployment affects members of our family and several friends as well!
The families need our support as well, it is pretty tough on the kids for sure!

Thank you for sharing this info!

Blessings,
Linda

Awesome! One organization I use to show my support is the Cup Of Joe for a Joe program - you can buy a soldier a cup of coffee for $2, the company who runs the program, Green Beans Coffee, will send a voucher to a randomly-chosen soldier who's signed up with the program and deployed to get a free coffee. You can include a personal message and there's even an option to share your email address with "your" soldier if you want to continue corresponding.

If any of you know someone who's deployed you might want to tell them about the program so they can sign up too.

Hi Emily Anna :) Thank You for asking :) You can visit the Soldiers Angel site or the Any Soldier site, for MANY soldiers need packages, cards & support ;) I believe you can Google the sites or I think these are the correct addresses http://www.soldiersangels.org/ http://anysoldier.com/

Does anyone on here have a loved one that is deployed who we could send cards or little treats to to show our appreciation and send them a little love from home??
