Posted - Jun 06 2012 : 2:11:54 PM I was searching Facebook for relatives and happened upon a sight for my home town. I requested to join and was approved. I gave a list of family names and made a comment about my grandmother teaching at a certain school. Low and behold, a lady responded to me. One of her family lines is Speicher, too. As it turns out we are 5th cousins. She lives in Fort Wayne - about 2 hours from me. That is so neat. She also told me that a distant relative, who lives in Switzerland, wrote a book about the Speicher family. I guess he came to America in 2010 to meet some of the family. I wish I could have been there!

Posted - Jun 09 2012 : 04:39:23 AM I like to use Ancestry.com (paid subscription site, but usually offer a 2 week free trial)for geneaology.. roots web is good. The familysearch.org is an excellent site.. Keep in mind these are submitted by people who do research and there are occasional errors. Google searches may point you to another family in your line too.
I found my mother's nephew's son selling his products on QVC. I made contact with him and he gave me his father's phone number in Florida.. and we talked for hours.. Seems my mother was his father's favorite aunt and he told me about the beauty shop she owned as a young woman.. Go figure.. the world is smaller than we think?
HAPPY HUNTING !!

Posted - Jun 06 2012 : 4:05:31 PM How interesting. Maybbe you could start your family tree and find more relatives. I always wanted to do that, but it is very time consuming and I just have too many other things to do right now.
