Posted - May 06 2012 : 4:00:21 PM Firstly; Praise God! Here's to the culmination of 3 years of turmoil!
In the past I've talked about several issues with my family-- I moved down here to Arizona when DH was having a quarter life crisis that some redhead he worked with was supposed to fix by being "better" (He shoulda known that's a promise she could never keep, I'm frickin awesome!)
Having really nothing set up for myself, I decided to come cross country and set up co-housekeeping with my mother and her minor children. After less than 3 months, hubby had a rude awakening and came down to prove up to his wife and family.
When everyone got settled and life was starting to smooth out, Mom decided to use some of her health benefits to have an old injury treated. Since that time, she has had about 10 assorted surgeries, one major hospital stay, developed 2 more chronic health conditions... It became an inescapable fact that with each new health problem and unemployment check that it was looking unlikely that she would ever work again.
So here we've been... the usual extended family cohabitation stress... the mediation... worries about money... being trapped in "too much house" in terms of a lease and "not enough house" in terms of space for two families all at the same time with no leftover money to have the option to change it...
Through it all, DH is taking his national EMT exam next week (we know he will pass the test, as he passed his EMT class with a 96% overall and a 4.0 gpa) He will soon be able to leave the sales job he hates.
In addition-- My mother has met the man she has literally waited her entire life for. He is kind, loves the Lord, admires her for all her talents, gets along with my brother, her last minor child and also very importantly; is financially independent. This gentleman has recently purchased a very nice home nearby and I am starting to see things of my mother's things making the move. (Fingers crossed for the bulky quilt machine to go next!!)
They've already begun discussing how and where they will have their destination wedding.
I am so happy for my husband... and so relaxed to know that supporting my mother and her son is no longer my responsibility as an adult child.
I'm just so contented.. yesterday I was ecstatic when this all sank in.. I was running around like a worker bee... but now I think my body just wants to sleep! LOL I've spent most of my sunday reading reclining on my comfy bed. So lovely. Just wish it wasn't so hot and stuffy like every Arizona summer! LOL
We get into so much deep, soul baring family matters on this board... I just felt moved to share all the good news.
Thank you all so much for your prayers over the last couple of years.
Now we just have to get my young adult sister out of the nest.

Posted - May 08 2012 : 8:05:40 PM JUDAS PRIEST! My sister; the woman-child, signed HERSELF up for community college. This is unprecedented. No one had to hold her hand... order her to do it... arrange her financial aid for her....
I think I'm going to ask her some off the wall questions to make sure she hasn't been body snatched!
