If only everyone could work 8-5. Unfortunately hospitals don't shut and lock their doors at 5. I've been working weekends and have to go to bed around 8 p.m. On a Saturday night! Definitely no wild parties happening here. Right now it's o.k. because DD needs to go to sleep at that time, too, so she sees everyone settling in and she's used to it. Later on it may prove more difficult when she wants to watch a movie or listen to music, or even have a friend spend the night.

We are waiting on word as to whether or not my DP will ahve a regular-ish shift. He works 2-11 right now and it's really stressful on us all...he interviewed recently for a position as a lab analyst working a very similar shift to that above...If he doesn't get it, he is going to shop around for a job. He plans to go to grad school in two years so it needn't be anything too wonderful, just what he has now or better.

It's amazing how a workshift can have such a profound effect on the dynamics of one's family life!

It's foreverish. I used to work at 4:45am for years. I always felt like a ship in the night with my friends. I put night cream on at 6:60pm. I have never been so exhausted in the evenings.

I agree Liz. You feel like you have a real jump on the day.

Trish,

I hope you find a way to make it work for you. Is it for a short period of time or forever?

It's always nice to be done early though! I used to love working the early shift!
