This is an awesome idea. I'm afraid I'm not skilled enough to help but I just wanted to say GOOD FOR ALL OF YOU who are willing to use your talents in this way. Blessings.

Excuse the mess & the noise, my children are making happy memories

Oh Deb, How wonderful that you do the food baskets too. 10 is alot. Your neighborhood is so lucky to have someone active with such a big heart. The economy is so bad now and everything helps. Joey

I hope someday to find someone that can teach me to knit. I can crochet simple things but never learned to knit...this is a great thing you are doing. Maybe nex year I can join if I learn before then

Deb, I just saw this post. I do something similar here. People think Florida is so warm (and it is) but we have homeless people here and with the ocean breeze the weather can be cold in the winter for the homeless. I see so many homeless in my job as a psychiatric RN. This year I decided to do something about it. I have been knitting scarves whenever I can. I go to the local McDonalds whenever I have a few extra bucks and get a $10 gift card. (This is the restaurant closest to the local shelter. I have no great love for McDonalds but it is convenient for them.) Anyway, I'm planning to wrap the scarf, a McD. card and a small bar of soap or toothbrush etc. together with a Christmas card and wrap it and put them in my car to give out when I see the homeless folks. They will be warmer and fed. What you are doing is so wonderful and so needed. Thanks for what you do too. Joey

Hi Margo -

I sent you an e-mail with my address, but I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow AM for a week. I'm taking my computer with me, but don't know when/where I'll find wi-fi service on the road. I knit hats and scarves a lot, so will be glad to have the yarn to make some for debtea's cause.

Let me know what you would like in trade for the yarn!

Thanks!

Hi Margo -

I'd be happy to take the yarn if nobody has asked for it already and knit some hats/scarves if you want to get rid of it. I'll e-mail you.

Feel free to collect donations of store made socks too, new socks are heaven to the homeless, no matter what time of year and no matter what their other needs may be. I met a pastor who kept a pair of socks and a granola or candy bar rubber banded together and a stash of them in his car to toss to the homeless pan handlers. Better than money even in the worst of hands.
