On July 16th, my FIL became severely ill. It seems as he was working in his tractor, he had a heart attack. Putting the tractor in gear, he aimed for the front door, and throttled. As he hit the fence line, the jostle threw him out, under the path of the rear tires. This man was a beast, this mad was 429lbs of invincible. We lost the pillar of our lives, farm, and town. With a broken heart, I say good by to the best PaPa my children could have been blessed with.

In living memory of Malvin John "Butch" Cheney
11/25/47-7/16/11
When God created this one man,
He never reused the mold.
From dirty hat to farmers tan,
To his ethics from days of old.

Tilling, toilling, teaching ne'r done,
The dance between farm, farmer, and sun;
Continuing daily morning through night,
This man never quitting or losing sight.

He taught us to work, press on, even shove,
He taught us to live, to laugh and to love.
No one a stranger after shaking his hand,
When you needed a shoulder, he'd help you to stand.

Shrouded in honesty, and the worth of his name,
He passed it to us, he demanded the same.
No better man was to be known,
His son, then grandchildren were to be shown.

There is a hole in our hearts, our family, our home,
That can not be filled by flesh or by bone.
The lessons in life he helped us learn,
Upon our hearts will forever be burned.

Larger than life and his laugh filled the room.
Everywhere he went a friendship would bloom.
Continuing daily to work and to fight,
Always determined to do what was right.

Rest has now come for this gentle man.
With all our power we'll do all that we can
To see him live on in all that we do,
So Butch please know, we are all missing you.

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

All I can say is thank you all. A memorial blog post will be up soon, it is taking me a while to get it together. We have a lot to oversee right now, and my ex-husband took advantage of our brokeness, to sue me for one of our children. I have estate lawyers, family lawyers, and vultures to beat off daily. I just want to mourn. I want to laugh and cry at pictures, videos, and memories. I just pray, I will find a time to do that.
Your condolences are special, and prayer is the only thing getting me through.

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

It takes a good man to be missed this much. You and your family will be in my prayers. My advice is to try to overwhelm the thoughts of the way he died with all the good, fun memories you have had with him, voice them, talk about them to others, you will reinforce all the good thoughts over the dreded ones. It worked with me and my FIL, I loved him so.

God Bless

Oh Annette! My heart breaks for you and your family. There really aren't words for such a loss. I have a "second father" that got ran over by a tractor a few years ago and we all thought we were going to lose him. My heart and prayers will be with you. Please please let me know if there is anything I can do to help or if you just need someone to listen! *hugs*
