Posted - Feb 18 2011 : 11:51:26 AM So, after going overdue 11 days, I was induced on Feb 7th. Annabelle Katherine arrived 12:08 am on 2/8! I put pictures up on my blog. I am so smitten with her! I can't get enough!

My mom has been here helping out for a few weeks, and is leaving tomorrow to go back to California. I'm so nervous! I'm scared I'll loose it once she leaves! My husband and I are thinking about having me be a stay-at-home mom, since we were both raised by stay-at-home moms, and we know that's best, so, we'll see. We need to sit down and budget things out. I told my boss I planned to come back full-time, but, when I think of the future, I do not see myself dropping her off with someone else all day and missing out on so much special time with her!

Posted - Feb 22 2011 : 3:07:43 PM We're so blessed to live on a farm, so we're never short on free, fun stuff to do! I'm hoping to sit down with him this weekend and really budget things out. We've invested in cloth diapers, and not many daycares are okay with those, so, we'll see what happens. I'm also working on the babywise program, and it's going really well-I'd like to stick to it.
My mom left Saturday and I was a wreck! Usually my mom and I don't get along very well, but we got along really well this time, and it made me miss home and my family quite a bit. I'm sure hormones played a part as well.

Posted - Feb 22 2011 : 1:27:35 PM What a precious baby you have, she is beautiful. I was able to stay home full time with my first two sons for a few years and then work only part-time until they were in their teens. I had my third son almost 8 years ago and I was able to take a full 6 years off for my mom break. It was wonderful and I really enjoyed every moment of it.
I am back to working part time and during the school year we don't need child care for our little guy. It took a lot of budget cutting around here for me to be off for so long, but we pulled it off and became experts at doing fun things that were free or cost very little. It took a lot of creativity and home improvements went on hold for those 6 years, but it was worth it. Best of luck deciding on what you want to do.

Lifes not about the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away.
Just a small town country girl, farmgirl, loggergirl, trying to live her dreams. :)
P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!! |

Posted - Feb 18 2011 : 2:44:30 PM Thank you everyone! I'm still kinda waffling between the whole "Should I let her sleep or should I wake her up" and "Is she really hungry AGAIN or is she just using me as a pacifier" moments, and I'm realizing it's all a learning process. There's no fast rule. We're trying to work on a 2 1/2-3 hour schedule, and we're doing good, ESPECIALLY at night (Thank heavens!).

Posted - Feb 18 2011 : 2:40:38 PM Megan, She's a beauty! No wonder though with her parents! I wonder if she will be one of those kids who like to do everything on her own schedule after keeping you waiting. It sounds like when I delivered our first child. DH's parent had come to stay with us for a week then had to head back home, at least a 5 hour drive and our Sara arrived the evening they left. I believe, in spite of what others may say we all are a bit uneasy about the first, but you will do just fine. We had a sheepskin wrap to bring our little darling home from the hospital in the Minnesota cold. She cried and yelled the whole way home. I was so scared, what will I do? When we got her in the house and unwrapped her she was literaly dripping in sweat. We were just about cooking her! Got the sheepskin off, fed her and she was settled in. I went back to work full time after our first and second, DH and I worked alternate hours so we seldom needed a baby sitter. But after the 3rd I was lucky to be able to switch to half time. That was all we could do but if you can work it out to stay at home go for it! When you are home there are ways to cut costs and you would have more time for more cooking from scratch, gardening, etc. and maybe even some kind of home business option. Best wishes to the three of you! Susan

Posted - Feb 18 2011 : 1:37:58 PM She is gorgeous! Congrats on having a healthy delivery! I felt the same way when my mom left after Nora was born. I think that fear is nature's way of making us be more careful with the babies when they are so new. I think you will be an excellent mom!
