As most of you gals know, I don't get on with hubby's city side of the family. I get on great with the country side. So, basically, all of us ignore each other and it's pretty peaceful.

So, the other day, hubby was driving our pickup in the town that one of his daughter's lives and 'somehow' we ended up at her house! Imagine that!! The upshot was that the visit went pretty well and I felt comfortable enough to talk to her on the phone just a coupld of days ago. That's when it went wrong...

Hubby was telling her about going to Norfolk, VA and kept saying it wrong. I told him but he still said it wrong. He can't seem to hear the 'correct' vocal way so he handed the phone to me to tell his daughter how to say it. I thought it was nice, that all of us were a team again.

So, I told her how to say it and she saaaayyyyyssss..."I know how to say it. I know." Then I said how about how to pronounce Portsmouth if you're from the eastern seaboard, which sounds to me like "porchmuth". She said "I know, I know, I know!".

Me: complete silence because I feel like an idiot. She's never even been out of our state except for CA. How would you know to say those names unless you've been there or had friends from there?? But, the real deal is we're back to anything I say, she's going to say she knows. Once we were talking about how not to spread germs from a cold and I conversationally said to replace your toothbrush as soon as you feel better so you don't re-infect yourself. Her answer? You got it. "I know, I know." I wasn't trying to tell her to do it, just some info I'd come across and thought it was a valid/interesting point.

Really, this is only a vent post. This only reminded me what I was missing. I think I'm going to go back to distancing myself. It may be a little immature of me but I liked it so much better that way. I like give and take conversations, and that, we aren't capable of.

Hubby doesn't know what to do or say but that's kind of a moot point too. This is between she and I. Thanks for listening!!
