It is tomorrow and she will be 6 years old! I have rented space in a historic mansion turned art center for a Pixies and Pirates party. The kids are going to make all kinds of pixie and pirate crafts!! Aria is beside herself! I promise to post pictures right away!

You all know that there isn't a birthday out there that isn't important. When, however, you have a child with a life threatening disease, every year, every birthday is an enormous milestone and an incredible place to pause, kneel and be grateful. I know several kids having their last halloweens, their last birthdays, christmases and so on. It makes me acutely aware of the significance of this day. It is my deep pleasure and privilege to share it with you!

Aria continues to be healthy. She is just extraordinary!

Last night, she bonked her leg badly on the side of our bed and I immediately thought, "Oh my God, she's broken her leg again!" She was wailing like she had done in May and it brought that horrible event racing back as if it had just happened. She settled down and as we lay in the bed looking at each other, I burst into tears. It was the first time I had cried in a long time thinking about her. I was over-come with sorrow for all she's had to endure. I was over-come with awe for the grace bestowed her to endure it all with such trust and honesty. I was over-come with her innocence and her beauty. I was over-come with gratitude that I was gifted another year with her and as I look back I can honestly say that I didn't waste it. I didn't fritter away a single moment. I may have had moments that I'm not proud of but I don't regret them for I have learned a great many things.

My Aria will be 6 years old tomorrow and let me tell you loud and clear, it is the most profound honor to be her mother! ~julia

Aria's party was a HUGE success. It was so much fun. 12 kids were there in all. The girls made fairy wings, masks and wands. The boys made paper swords, hats and eye patches. It was hilarious and let me tell you, the glitter was flying!! At one point the kids needed to let off some steam so they went outside in their costumes and ran up and down a hill acting the parts of pixies and pirates. It was great. Enjoy the pictures and THANK YOU for all the wonderful wishes!!!!

Aria the BIRTHDAY GIRL. I made her birthday crown..I even made the pom-poms using felted wool. It was SO much fun!!

The motley and magical crew of pirates and pixies!

A Very Happy Birthday to Aria. You are right to call her an amazing little Girl, because that she is. But then she has an Amazing Mom and Dad.
