Posted - Aug 03 2009 : 05:42:47 AM Sounds like a nice time! I have my own mil woes, so I can relate. While she certainly has not gone on every vacation with us, the ones that have included her were incredibly stressful.
I like the 30 Days of Blank concept, and the Zentangles look like a lot of fun. |

Posted - Aug 02 2009 : 9:44:31 PM Welp, I can see two sides to this story. I'm leaning on the 'you oughta be a twosome' side and your MIL takes more of a back seat.
While I can see that Richie is a fine man, he's got to quit asking his mom along on everything. It almost smacks of a mama's boy. I've dealt with this stuff (not going with us but have to visit anytime we're in range of her house, now we live about 150 miles away...sweet release) and a MIL can make you miserable to the max but be sweet as pie when her son/my hubby walks in the room. I've posted this stuff here cuz I don't have much of anywhere else to go with it!
Then on the other hand, I'm a MIL myself and try to stay out of the way and let my son and his wife do their thing but it hurts me that I'm not as included as I want to be. But I think it's more important for them to be for each other before they are for me. BUT I feel like I have to be a big girl and have my life and they have theirs and not to be intrusive to the point that my DIL starts to resent me, like I resent my MIL.
Does all that make sense??

Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 10:40:57 PM That is great, Julie! Of the two of us (Doug and I) I am the one the always wants to go home on our time off. He always wants to go on "real" vacations. Maybe I will take the lesson offered in your story and make sure I humor him a bit more often! :D
