Our Granddaughter Abbie has been visiting us from Auburn, WA. Her mom is dealing with Leukemia. My son & his wife have asked for some help in taking care of Abbie during the summer when she is out of school & they both are in Seattle. Jaime had her stem cell transplant on June 10. We live 2 1/2 hours away. We got her for our vacation.
Abbie has been her since June 26. We have been busy with the animals & visiting family. Keeping her busy, so she is not worrying & missing mommy & daddy. All week she has been helping with the farm, learning what it is like to be a farm girl. She now has her own little gray bunny (we will keep it for her). Last night I made her an official "farm girl" certificate. She giggles & loves it. We go back to work tomorrow, today she is going to my brothers in Ellensburg for the week. He has a nice 20 acre farm with a new calf.
Abbie cant wait, she has been reading up on calves.

Thank you Jonni & Kay for you wonderful notes, It really is nice to be able to share whats going on in our lives.
Yes it is nice to have granddaugthers. Most of my farm & sewing skills came from those patient wonderful Grandma & Grandpa. It is our job to pass these things on. Your right Kay.
Kay I will be thinking about Shyanne & her mom & Dad! God Bless them.

Isn't it fun to have granddaughters to pass things down to? My granddaughter is staying with us for 10 days and she is only 21 months old, but smart as a tack. She went out with me the other day to weed the flower bed. She also helps Grampa weed the front yard and has a blast doing it. When she's older, there is so much more to teach her.
Daddy is in Iraq and Mom has National Guard duty for the next 2 weeks and we are hoping to make this easy for her, but I know it won't be. DD has already said she will probably be bawling her eyes out when she leaves tomorrow because she has not spent one night away from precious little Shyanne since she was born. I will be crying for her, too.

Bless her heart! Grace, I think it's wonderful that she's with you folks, and learning new things, keeping her mind (as much as she can) off what's going on at home. I will be thinking of Abbie, her momma and daddy, and hope that things get much better. Mom's are VERY important at that age...

Abbie is 8 yrs old & stayed for 9 days, she is now in Ellensburs staying with my brother on his farm. They have a new baby calf. Abbie is having a wonderful summer so far. Learning new things, meeting new people.

How sweet. How old is Abbie? It sounds like she is loving the farm life there. How long will she be there with you? And I will be praying for her mom. That's a tough thing to deal with.
