Well, it's 11:03 pm and I'm sitting here at the computer to try and keep my nerves calmed down - can you believe - something else has happened to our family?
Mike is working swing shift in Seattle and goes to the yard where the equipment is kept after work for the carpool to disperse to their own cars. He just called to tell me he had just left the yard and was headed for the freeway to come home when a drunk driver crossed the intersection he was in and ran into him head on. He sounds fine - he says he's fine - but I know sometimes the after effects of something like this don't hit you for awhile. The guy that hit him kept going and Mike had to chase him down. When he caught up with him, the guy just said "yeah, that's too bad" Mike had to persuade him to drive in to the nearby gas station where he called the police. When he called me he was waiting for the cops to come.
Once he's done with the police, he still has about an hour and a half drive home, assuming our pickup is still driveable, so I'm going to be on pins and needles til he gets here. He just had that accident where a loose wheel came over the barrier and totaled my car on his way to work about 6 or 7 months ago, now this! I sure hope he's really ok. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers! I'll up date tomorrow.

Sherri- My experience is that you have to call the police to get follow up info. Hope they caught the guy in the 10 minutes!!

I keep hoping the police will give Mike a call and tell him whether they picked the guy up or what, but so far - nothing.

Glad to hear it ended up better then it could have and that you don't have a big ole mess to deal with. I will be curious to hear who it was and why he chose to "hit and run"! AND got picked up in a mercedes at that!

Here's the update. After I talked to Mike last night, a big Mercedes pulled up and the drunk got out of his car and left in the Mercedes. Mike got the number of that car and called the police back. Soon after, the officer showed up and took Mike's info and thanked him for the license plate numbers. The other guy's wrecked car was still sitting at the gas station and the "suspected" drunk had flown the coop, but the cop obviously knows who he is and said he would be charged with hit and run. They can't charge him with DUI unless they found him soon after he left hubby last night. The cop said the guy was from out of town. But Mike said the guy in the Mercedes showed up within 10 minutes of the accident, so he had to be local.

Anyway, Mike made it home about 1 am and he seems to be fine. A testimonal for big Dodge Ram trucks I guess. Truck's not in too bad of shape either!!

All's well in the Grubbs home! Thanks for your prayers and good wishes!

So very sorry to hear of your hubby's accident and hope he is fine and the drunk gets a very stiff fine and had insurance to pay for the damages. Your poor hubby must be afraid to get behind the wheel after all the bad things happening lately. Praying for better days ahead for your family.

Sherri!!! I am thinking of you all today....I have a very low key day planned with lots of ironing. I often do my best praying while I'm ironing! Praying isn't exactly what I do...I don't know what you'd call it but just know that I'll be ironing, keeping you, your husband, and son among a host of many others in my thoughts and good warm wishes!

What is it about ironing? I find it so therapuetic. Sending so much love!! ~julia

Oh Sherri, I don't know what to say but hang on, even though with all that's happened to you recently you're probably hanging on by your fingertips! Mike will probably be a little sore today. Give him a big farmgirl hug from all of us. JoAnn

I'm sorry sherri! Ya know They say things come in threes...but it sure sounds like you are getting someone elses three as well as your own! Hope Mike came home just fine, even though the truck is now going to be another bummer to deal with. I tell myself it could have been worse...cuz just when I think things can't get any worse...they do and then I am wishing I just had those old worries and problems back!
