Posted - Mar 16 2009 : 6:00:10 PM We got home around 4 o'clock! Aria was stoked and we're all quite a bit lighter having everyone here. It is WONDERFUL! Phew...I tell you, it was only a 2 night over-nighter, but boy did it feel longer!! I have a lot feelings about that one that I'll be processing for a few days. I'll spare you here!
We go to clinic tomorrow to check her counts, have her examined and she'll get her chemo. We'll continue to hope for the best and put this down as another typical experience in the world we now know as "cancer."
May you all know in the very depth of your souls how you have touched me, helped me , soothed me, massaged me and comforted me. I'm profoundly grateful.
Sending my love and admiration! ~julia

Posted - Mar 21 2009 : 07:55:24 AM Good Morning everyone! I thought I'd give you all a quick little update:
Aria is just ok. She's hasn't had any more fevers, which is huge. She's just exhausted! Wednesday after her clinic appt and chemo, she slept the entire day. This was something very new and different for her. Her big gun chemo can make her weary but not like anything I saw on Wednesday. We're all thinking that her body is in over-time fight mode and she's probably sleep deprived from her hospital stay. She is steadily improving with each day. Although remains pretty low energy and low key in general. She has a wicked cough and runny nose so she's still fighting this virus, which did in fact turn out to be Influenza A!!
The real kick has been that in the last few days, my husband, son and baby girl all came down with the flu. Horrible fevers, runny noses and coughs. It's been ugly! Yesterday most everyone was improved and today everyone seems to be feeling a whole lot better. The baby is still stuffy and fussy but no fevers. Reo is for all practical purposes back to himself as is my husband.
We've been so so so low key.
Hopefully this virus will run its course and run right outta here and leave us alone!
Aria goes back to clinic on Wednesday for another count check and exam.
All your warm thoughts..all your prayers...all your comments...it is just magnificent! It is as hard as you imagine it to be but I have to tell you, it could be so much worse and it isn't! We are blessed. My love to you all! ~julia

Posted - Mar 20 2009 : 05:53:02 AM Julia, I sm so glad Aria is home again. I think about you and pray for all of you everyday. It truly pains me to think of all that your little girl has been through. Not to mention what you as her Mom have endured. My prayers are that soon Aria will be completely well and all this will be a memory. Until then, I will pray that God keeps all of you in his tender care and Aria just keeps getting better.
Hugs and love, Mary Jane

Posted - Mar 17 2009 : 07:58:54 AM What a heavenly night!
I don't know that I've given you such a play-by-play before but let me tell you it was very helpful to me and I thank you!
Aria had a slight fever in the early evening (100.1) so we did give her some tylenol but thank heavens there was absolutely no excitement after that! She slept in her own bed for a little while and then joined us where she stayed nice and cool throughout the night.
My husband is now coming down with whatever virus she had. It was expected quite frankly and I'm sure he'll recover very quickly. I, too, am feeling a little off..you know just general cold symptoms. This is what happens in families..bugs circulate..Soooooo let's just hope Aria doesn't rebound downward. We're all taking extreme care..loads of water, rest, and healthier eating now that we're home.
Again, I feel compelled to express my gratitude. This is a snap-shot into our world. We haven't had to do this for 3 1/2 months and we are extremely fortunate that way. We have enjoyed Aria's wellness for a long time. May I say and ask that you send up some prayers to those kids and families all over our nation and the world for that matter whose stays in the hospital last weeks and months! There was one family on the ward while we were there that have not been home since their 4 year old son's diagnosis of leukemia. That was 2 months ago!!!! Poor things. I can't begin to wrap my head around that.
I saw the mother in the playroom and wanted to go introduce myself but since we were in isolation I couldn't and didn't want to potentially expose her or her son. I just sent them healing healing thoughts through the window. For them, life in the hospital has become their world. It is a very challenging world indeed!
My love to you all! ~julia

Posted - Mar 17 2009 : 12:34:19 AM so very glad to hear you are home now. hoping and praying that Aria's counts aren't down too too low. hugs to both mom and Aria...and the rest of your family.what a battle this has been for you all. I cannot begin to imagine the emotional roller coaster you have been on for a year and counting now.please do remember to steal a quiet moment for yourself once in a while..to simply breathe and to be.We moms sometimes take on a whole world's worth of emotions and then some it seems, and often forget to take a breath and take care of ourselves in the midst of everything. So, a big hug to you too Julia.
