I have super mixed feelings today! On the one hand I'm overjoyed...I'm beyond happy! Aria is still alive and not only that she is vibrant and awesome! A year ago cancer and leukemia and chemo was all I could think about, now I have to remind myself, more or less, that she still has leukemia. If it wasn't for her daily chemo, and clinic visits....Still, the crisis is gone...the real dark worry is no longer there. The relief I have is immense. At the same time, almost once a day, I have this sense of sorrow come over me like a thin veil. It covers me and I remember...I feel it all around me and I'm breathless to think that she could be taken from me. I'm horrified to think of the millions of people the world over who have already lost children or are in the process of watching them die. I breathe deeply and the veil is lifted. I pause a moment in utter gratitude for the gift of yet another day that I hope to fill with kindness, goodness, nurturing, love, peace and blessings.

We are in such a different place than we were a year ago today that it is tempting to try to blot out that time altogether. I'm not ready to do that yet. I'm not ready to forget. Remembering helps me appreciate even more where I am. One day, the memory of this day will fade but for now I'm keeping it close.

To all you of who have kept us so close. It has helped immensely. It matters so truly and I thank you so profusely!

Julia, my MJF magazine came yesterday. First in order of reading was your article about this journey with Aria. My intense deep feelings still connect her with my Dad and I do believe he's right beside her on the road to full health.
My emails to you are still bouncing back, so will just say a box will be coming to you before long. Will email or post when it's on the way.
My love to you and the family

Julia, as I sit here in tears, good ones, I so rejoice this mile marker with you. It has been a journey filled with so much in one year. Filled with doctors and terms you didn't first understand, and people and faces you were not sure about. Now you understand more, take each day with such grace and gratefulness for that very day and each of the moments in it. Yes, there is a small veil of sorrow, for you know the fight that you are in. You wouldn't be human if that wasn't there, but you also can rejoice in the delight of Aria's face and seeing her play and laugh. Just the fact that she is there with you, is such an amazement to you. Yes, hugging you now through cyber space, but I am sure you understand that.

Your journey brings encouragement to many of us who battle with things others may not know. That it is okay to be human in all of it, that life is what it is, that even in the biggest challenges we have every faced, there is strength, and others on this same journey. We are not alone..............thank you.

Julia, I love reading all your posts and especially the ones about Aria. Thank you so much for sharing about your journey with her and all those photos. Aria has the sweetest smile and face. You all are on my mind often and I'm always praying for you and your family. Your words have given me courage and insight as I've been dealing with similiar circumstances this year. I think back to that one photo with the braids in the shape of the heart. That was one of the most touching photos I've ever seen. If ever love could be captured in a picture that one was it. I'm sending warm thoughts, positive energies, and ton of hugs for you all!

Julia~ As a mommy of young children I cannot even begin to imagine how terrible this last year has been for you. If I could, I would reach through this screen and give you and your little girl a BIG HUG. I rejoice with you as you rejoice at the beginning of a new year, and my prayers go before you. Blessings and Hugs to you.

Your remembrance of such days that every parent dreads paints such a vivid picture. It's hard to imagine what someone has/is going through when you haven't walked in their shoes, but your words make it very clear. Somehow, you manage to word it in such a way that I actually feel that I can relate to you. I ache over the pain you and your family have had to endure.

On the flip side; your words also convey a vivid picture of health, love, joy and gratitude that is so touching. I cried happy tears for you. Prayers for you, Aria and the rest of the family for continued success in Aria's battle.

Much love and bear hugs,
Lisa Marie

Julia ~ what a strong and beautiful women you are and what an example you have set for Aria.

I hope you know that your journey has touched so many of us. Your story made us hold our own children and grandchildren a little closer and be a little more thankful for each day, that we arise and have been blessed to share it with the ones we love.

Today we celebrate with you in reaching this milestone~ so I will take time to breathe in slowly and deeply, the cold air of winter, not complain about the little things and be thankful that for today all is well ~

live well,
Tamara

Julie, you made me cry....in the good way!! thank you so much!! Jamie, thank you too! Honestly, I don't know what to say either! I swear, I've heard all kinds of things..some of it extremely helpful some of it not so much. In every circumstance however, when people have said, "I don't know what to say" I have felt enormously close to them. It is such an honest response. It is so human and tender and has always made me feel that much more connected to whomever said it. So, thank you once again! So much love to you! ~julia

Julia - I am so happy to hear that you have passed this milestone. I know your road is still long but you still have lots of us putting our arms around you, Aria, and your family. Your journaling and insight and your willingness to share this event with all of us has been amazing. Your strength, even by showing your weaknesses, has challenged and uplifted me. Though we have never met or even talked I have been touched by your life and by Aria. I carry a part of both of you with me everyday. I have enjoyed all of your pictures and thoughts and I look forward to reading your book! Aria is going to grow into and amazingly stong women because of you!

Love, hugs and continued well wishes!
