We called our youngest son who lives in Wyoming yesterday to pass along an invitation he had received and he surprised us by telling us he was on his way home for christmas! He was between Idaho Falls and Boise when we talked to him and he said the roads were in good shape. Well, that didn't last long - he called back and said there were near white-out conditions and compact snow and ice on the road and he was having to go between 25-30 mph on I-84. Well, the next call was he had found out I-84 was closed in Oregon and didn't know what he should do. We looked on the map and told him he could cross the Columbia before the road closure at Hwy. 97 and come on up the "back way". Well, low and behold, after hours of white knuckle driving, he arrived on Hwy. 97 only to find out the bridge across the river was CLOSED! He had to turn around and drive back about 45 miles int he blinding snow. Anyway, he did arrive home safely about 2:15 in the am - of course mom was still up, pacing and watching for him. He lives in the mountains in Wyoming and he said it was the worst driving conditions he had ever seen. Just wanted to share my joy and relief this morning of the blessing of having my son asleep in the next room after a harrowing night!! Merry Christmas all!

oh how nice to have him home for Christmas. Lousy weather, but I am sure you both would agree it was worth the drive to have him there.
hugs

Thank Goodness. I am glad your son is safe Sherri. My daughter can't get home for Christmas either because of the weather. I'm glad she is safe at home and I don't have to worry about her, so I know just what you mean.
