Today is my husbands birthday. He was running a little late this morning when his mother called from CA. My father-in-law was in the hospital and they transferred him yesterday to a nursing home for what was supposed to be for a few days. My father-in-laws mind is slowly slipping away and he threw an absolute fit when they got to the home. He finally calmed down after my mother-in-law left at 9 p.m. She got a call at 1 this morning, the nurse said my father-in-law was screaming his head off he wanted out of there. My mother-in-law, (who is 72 and not feeling to good herself), got a family friend to accompany her there & she said her husband was like a out of control two year old. Finally the doctor was called & he released my father-in-law to go home. By the time they got him to bed at home, it was 4 a.m. this morning. My husband is very sad and upset, his mother is completely shot, so he is worried sick about her too. I feel terrible for his parents and so sad my husband started his birthday with all of this. If you have time, please send good thoughts & prayers for my father-in-law. He is set up with hospice to deal with his leukemia, and all we can do is pray God will decide what to do quickly with him.

Thanks Kay and everyone else for your prayers. My husband spoke with his mom last night. She said his dad is doing better but he gets very angry easily and he is constantly saying she's yelling at him. My mother-in-law has to yell though since my husband's dad won't put his hearing aide in. My mother-in-law is quite worn out & at the end of her rope. We hope things settle down soon for her. My husband will be able to give her a much deserved break once he gets out there. Hopefully she'll last that long! It is difficult being so far away and very frustrating too.

Dawn - I'm so sorry! That is so hard. I remember when my dad had to go to the nursing home. He was in IL and I was out here - it was awful. I will be praying for all of you.

We haven't called out to CA tonight. My husband will probably talk to his mom later this evening though. I'm hoping "no news is good news" for the moment. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. This is so difficult for my husband being so far away to really help out. He is flying out there on the 30th of this month if he doesn't have to rush out sooner. He'll go for a week, so hopefully that will help his mom out.

Thank you again, my husband had tears in his eyes when I read him your messages.

Dawn, I'm so sorry. Not a good way to start a birthday at all. I hope that hospice will take some of the distress and pressure off of your family and I hope that your poor husband has as good a birthday as possible under the circumstances.
