My dad passed away on Valentines day and we held the funeral yesterday. It was very hard for me to deal with the funeral. But I managed to hold it together just like my daddy would have wanted me too.

Today my brother and I start the task of "settling up" the affairs. I am worried because my brother left the farm after college to head for the big city. From all indications my brother is looking to liquidate everything. This causes me saddness, but my husband I have decided that we will buy his portion of the property and keep the farm intact just like it has been since my great-grandparents bought it.

Please say a prayer for me that my brother will be easy to deal with concerning this matter and that I can be a "true southern" farmgirl without losing my temper!

I am deeply touched by the kind words, prayers and hugs you all have sent my way. Right now I am very overwhelmed by everything that has to be done. I am so grateful that my brother has been very much on the "same page" as I am. We did sit down and talk about the farm and what will be done. Looks like we will be "partners" running the farm. I know that there will be things we will not see eye to eye on, but I can already see God's hand working during this time of loss for my family.

Thanks again for everything!

Donna, I am so sorry for your loss. I know first hand what it's like when one loses their "daddy". I am hoping that your brother sees where you're coming from with the farm. Keeping it in the family is a great treasure. Thinking of you...

Donna, I too have lost my father, and I share in your sadness as your life takes a new direction, without him always there...but know that he IS always there, in your heart, and if your brother has any misgivings about how you want to keep the farm, just ask your daddy to speak to your brother's heart...love and prayers to your, FarmGirl!
