What works for you as far as keeping the house put together, getting the kids ready, getting yourself presentable, when you work, go to school, SAHM with a lot to do, etc?

I have found a few things work for me..

1)I put all of Charlie's clothes out for the week by outfit for daycare in a shoe organizer in his closet. I put top, bottom, socks, diaper- then I just grab and go in the morning. Also, I have move dall of his clothes to another organizer right next to it so I can add a shirt or change out pants based on the weather. I also get his blanket and pillow and if need be, diapers and wipes put into a designated bag and that goes right out into my Jeep Sunday night. Then I don't forget it come Monday and I can stock up the school as they need it.

2) Same with my own clothes. I set out my wardrobe in the closet for the week, including shoes, undergarments, nylons, jewelry. I also put my bag (minus my purse) out in the car Sunday night.

I have been doing these 2 things Sunday nights and boy, it does save me alot of time. It only takes me about 1 hour to do everything.

I am doing something similiar with our food. I put together meals in the refrigerator so I can grab everything I need at once. Even down to the smallest detail, like say garlic or onion, which I will forget if I am in a hurry or short on time or just tired.

I also keep a filing organizer on the floor on my Jeep in the back. I put Charlies school work in there and then I have a spot for paperwork I accumulate during the week. On Sunday night, whilst putting the bag of diapers in, I empty that out. This is huge for me because usually I am driving with papers all over my Jeep and I open the window and it is like a windmill in there.

What are your tips?

Cheers,
Heather

We have Chinese night! Every week the kids HAVE to go to the Chinese restauraunt or get take out. We always have a spending limit and the portions are big so the little ones share. At least I know that one night a week is cooking free!

Sue- that is not lame at all. We do the same thing. It is pizza night. It does just make the end of the week so much easier.

this may sound lame but.... every friday night was hot dogs for dinner night! we'd have hot dogs and sometimes baked beans, or sometimes those tater-tots or sometimes just chips. it was easy, a no-brainer..... and, if the kids brought anyone home, spur of the moment, it didn't matter, you just throw more into the pot! i know it's not the healthiest but having one or maybe even two nights that you do all the time gives you a no-stress, don't have to think about it night! the other thing i found great was the crock-pot. on sundays i'd brown some pork chops....then just put them in a bowl and cover and put in the refrig. the next morning, dump them in the crock-pot, pour in a can of chicken-and-rice soup. add a little water and a little more rice and when you come home you have the tenderest meat and rice to go with it! but it sounds like you really have your act together.....

I lay out school clothes, and do all of the lunch, snack packing, and straightening up before bed. I get up to acleaned up house and the kids know where everything is for them. It works or me and if it isn't broke, don't fix it! lol

the big thing for me is making sure i am up early and ready to go before i wake the kids up. i also, get up extra early to spend time on my school work. that way it gets done with out interuptions.
