Hey gardengirl,

Although Austin and the surrounding areas are getting quite populated there are still lots of houses with acreage, it just depends on where your husbands job is located as to how far you will have to drive. Sometimes the traffic is horrible but they were building more overpasses and bypasses to make driving more easy. Let me know the address where he wants to work and I will try to find some areas close to that.

Texas is the place I dearly love to be!!!!!

GardenGirl, Wow! What a change you will have. I think that you will absolutely LOVE Austin.
I was born in Texas and then moved back there in 1999, had our children there and moved back to the South East (NC) in 2005.
We loved it down there. You are going to a really pretty part of the lone star state too.
I found lots of great organic places to eat, farmers markets, you name it. Also, folks are so friendly down there. Especially the natives!
I don't know a whole lot about Austin as I lived up in Waskom, in the north east part of the state. Wish I could tell you more.
We used to ride the Austin Steam Train up to Burnett, TX. That was a lot of fun for my boys and We really enjoyed Fredricksburg. Willdseed Farms is on of the most beautiful places on earth!
And you can always go over to Luchenbach, TX although, Waylon, Willie and the Boys probably won't be there. ha ha!
You also will be pretty close to San Antonio. The River Walk is full of all kinds of great shops and places to eat.

I really hope you find happiness there. It is a wonderful place!

Hi gardengirl,

I grew up in the Austin area, in fact I moved away 7 years ago. The hill country is very pretty but it also depends on where you are moveing from.LOL I lived in Cedar Park until high school, at that time there was only 2500 people, then we moved farther out to Leander, also about 2500 people. Now Cedar Park has over 30,000 people and more are moving out towards Leander. Georgetown is a really pretty place and I lived in Bastrop for 5 years before moving here to Washington. My parents and my brother & his family live in Leander. If there is any questions I can answer please let me know.
