I just received my copy of "Grit" magazine. Highlighted topics were "How to deal with Mud" and a story on Mules. My first riding animal was a mule and the only thing in the world I think I lack is a mule........ isn't that a crack up!

I just wanted to hear your mule stories! jo

ps, I just love that Grit magazine....... going for a very cold walk with my lab girls now, I think it's up to six degrees now.

I love Grit! Didn't know it was still published. That was one of my first businesses when I was in 5th grade -- selling Grit around my neighborhood. I didn't know that it was now a magazine. I remember it as a newspaper! Now I'm dating myself.

Just bought my first "Grit" yesterday.....cannot wait to make a cup of tea, sink into my easy chair and devour it. Actually read about Mules before falling asleep last night. I have taken several mule rides in the past...great animals. Looking to enlarge our herd by adding a mini Jack. Too Cute!!

This isn't my mule story, but it was shared with me; it's about Will the Blue Mule.

I have always love mules. My grandpa had a couple when I was little and they were always favorites of mine. I wish I had the space. I used to always say that my old gelding Mick was mule all but the long ears! I sure miss him!

Jo, I use to have a 53in saddling mule and every time it got near water it would lay down and roll didn't matter if you was in the saddle or not. Never could get it out of the mule. My father , brother-in-law, and youngest son all do mule pullings. We go every year to Columbia, TN to Mule Day so each one of them can pull. You can check out a picture of my son on my blog; www.2lmzfarmsblogspot.com you may have to go to older post. Now, I know where the expression of being 'stubborn like a mule' came from.

I'm trying to think about what kind of a magazine it is........ it's departments that you might relate to. It's just a fun magazine.....
In the Shop
Country Vet
Recipe Box
Soe How

Have a look at the web site, I like it because it's a little more plain, sort of down to earth country, with practical advice and history stuff. Of course my favorite country magazine is Small Farm Journal published in Sisters Oregon. I've had that one for a long time, it is wonderful about Horse Drawn Equipment, historical farming. (My father sold Case Tractors).
