It took a long time to get to this point! But we did it! Above is now, below is the year 2001 after we cleared the land of all garbage/buildings and built our Lodge/garage.

Posted - Sep 05 2018 : 4:14:39 PM Thanks Judy! We love the yard and the pines. We have a path in the back that leads through the old horse pasture- now grown over. We can go straight back to our neighbors land behind us and then on the right side of our neighbor and us, is another neighbors 80 acres with this view-
A lot of wildlife goes back there! Always something to see!

Posted - Sep 05 2018 : 1:22:51 PM oooh! I see you are in IA Marlene!! Hello neighbor! How wonderful to have property from your parents homestead! My parents were city folk who loved the lakes here. But my mother's parents were from far northern MN and the Canada/MN border. I think I inherited their love of living in the woods!! The lakes are nice, but I love land!

Posted - Sep 05 2018 : 11:23:53 AM Thanks Audra Rose! We have 19.25 :o) Very wet, and sparse for tilling/hay. Used to be a lot of animals here years ago. We are on the edge of the next County called Aitkin County which we call "bog" County! I love it all. In the 1800's they donated the .75 of an acre for a church to build. The church sold it and built 8 miles down the road- the nearest City.

Posted - Sep 04 2018 : 5:08:26 PM No we contracted a cheap garage company. They built the shell.
They also put the unfinished stud wall in the middle for us. So the garage side is 30' x 30' and the Lodge side is the same size.
Above is the stud wall between as the boys play on the unfinished Lodge side and the other side is garage.
Above Lodge inside finished. We hired carpenters. We also re-sided it and my Son in Love built my shutters!
I have more photos of finishing it off on the inside on one of my blogs here- http://uncontainablejoy.blogspot.com/2017/06/our-lord-takes-care-of-everything.html Of course we are still tweaking everything each summer! :o)

Posted - Sep 04 2018 : 09:18:51 AM Thank You Barbara and Denise! I thank God for it! I'm leaving it to my youngest son and the 2 Granddaughters I've raised since birth. They are 14, 15, and 16 now. Its all paid for and the taxes are cheap. I told them when we die, sell the old house in the city (it needs too many updates/repairs) but keep this if you can!!
