We got hit pretty bad here in my part of N.J. lost power for almost 2 days. We were one of the lucky ones though, my daughter had cell phone, we put up a barrier to block off the rest of our small home from the kitchen & liv. room. We literally lived in 2 rooms. Couldn't cook but had plenty of food. We used our coleman lamps for light & heat. When we went to the bathroom in the back of the FROZEN TUNDRA, I thought I'd die from frost bite! We have trees down all around us & tons of huge branches in our yard BUT, we played cards, spent time together, ALOT of time together! The power is back on & I am so happy it is. It's amazing how we sometimes take for granted the "Little Things" in life. Glad to be back!!

I feel you pain. This happened to us in December. Trees down everywhere, power out for days. Cold behinds. But ya know we all come out of it ok and being more appreciative of what we take for granted. Glad you are OK and no trees landed on your house. MB

Hopefully you will be up and running with no problem today. You definitely had your share of mechanical problems this year! Did the warrantee just expire? (That's what my Dad always said when something broke down!) Sorry... the frozen septic field was more than enough!

Came home from hockey last night to the smell of smoke. Went to the basement and dicovered the boiler was shooting out blake smoke into the basement and house. Had to shut it down and am waiting for a repair guy to fix it. Luckily its 39* today and the house is staying relatively warm. Can't imagine what would have happened had I not noticed this. Scary!

Oh man, I hate when that happens! We've done the same thing, taking a blanket and blocking off one end of the house to help retain heat.
My sister has six kids, two of which are foster infants. They lost power for three days this winter. Thankfully they had a little coleman (or something similar) to heat the formula with.

Glad to hear you made it through the outage and the electicity is back on. I have been through it myself a few years ago. It sure is an eye opener. I am making sure we have at least two alternate sources of heat in our new house. You cant be to prepared for things like that.

I know what that is like, we were with out power several months ago for days, boy I was so glad when it came back on. To this day I am thankful for power. We really do take it for granted.

I sure can relate to no power...we were without for over 4 days last Nov. We had a great time, but many really suffered. We had fun cooking for others on our porch.
This is all a real learning expericence.

Michelle! I was wondering how you were and if the outages missed you, we were lucky so far. Sorry to hear you didn't escape it, but glad to see you are back and the power ( and heat!) are restored. Is there any way you can hook up a generator to spare you next time this happens? It has been SOOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOLD here in NJ this week. Right now wind chill is -1 and isn't expected to improve much. Stay safe and warm!

Michele -- What an ordeal! Electricity is not a 'little thing' in our world, but we do take it for granted, don't we? M and I are lucky enough to have a woodstove, especially since we're suburban 'farmers', so we would have that for heat and cooking on. . . but to be totally 'without' as you were?
