Well, after a couple of years and alot of road trips around the West, we have found our place.
In fact we will be neighbors to Aunt Jenny!

We found a pretty turn-of-the-century farmhouse that has 5 bedrooms, and a big new(ish) kitchen and family room with a wood burning stove built on the back.
It has a small barn (everyone in that county calls an out-building or barn a grainary??) with a chicken coop attached. And the very best part is the shop for the Knifemaker...it is huge!! It has a big back lot with an aviary and a huge garden spot..and even enough space for a critter or two...

So, we made our offer last week, and the sellers accepted...We met with the Mortgage lender again on Monday and everything is all set to go, we are just waiting to set a date for closing....

This FarmGirl at heart can't wait to get out of the big city!!!

Just wish me luck getting this house ready to sell!! (Who knew that 6 people could collect so much STUFF in 9 nine years!?!?)
Here's to De-Junking...quite cathartic and freeing...
Love and light to you all...
Kate

Libbie, thanks for asking.
We are loving Manti!

My old farmhouse has all kinds of fun potential.

Our newest project has been our chicks. We ordered a meat and egg combo from McMurray hatcheries, that included 10 laying hens, standard size, and 15 Jumbo X rocks, we also got 12 bantams, and 20 more meat chicken...what fun!

Now that we are "neighbors" Libbie, let's get together!
Love and light to you
Kate

So happy for you too! We're new to countrylife. The first night here, we couldn't slep because it was so quiet! So funny! No sirens, car alarms, traffic. It is blissful!

I talked to Kate today and she and her family are officialy OUT of her old house. She sounded happy and tired. I will get to see her tomorrow afternoon. It is going to be so nice to have her down here! We have been chatting on the phone daily and I can hardly wait for her to be here.

UPDATE...We have sold our home in SLC, and for $12,000 more than we had hoped to get...believe me that will go a *long* way on my new home!!
We met with our mortage guy, the appraisals are done, we only have to set a closing date and we are set!!!

Now, I just need to find the energy to pack up the rest of the house!!

Hooray for new (old) farm houses!!

I am getting really excited about choosing new furniture, and paint, and flooring...and I am planning my garden, and thinking about getting chicks for Easter...

Thanks for sharing in my excitement!!

Kate, congrats on your new farm. And so close to two farmgirls, I'm jealous!! I never saw Out of Africa before, even though I just found out while organizing my DVDs I actually have it. You know what I'm doing tonight.

Congrates Kate-wonderful to read this! I'm glad you found your farm. I hope you move goes smooth. It is good you took some time out from packing to relax and regenerate. All the very best! :)

How exciting for you to have a new home! Im sure you will just love it. And Aunt Jenny, instead of renting the movie, since Kate will be your neighbor, maybe you gurlz could watch it together?! Sounds like fun to me! Congrats Kate on your new home!
