Posted - Oct 31 2016 : 11:45:11 AM We went to Kentucky for a church homecoming, and took some time to check out properties near Irvine that we saw on Zillow. Somehow our GPS got confused in the mountains, but we found the property I had my eye on purely by accident. It is everything that I want - a view, quiet, and a small house. The only problem is that we aren't ready to retire for anot her couple years, and can't afford two mortgages. I hope the LORD will keep it for us!

Posted - Apr 12 2026 : 6:28:26 PM I sew my treadle belts together. It's quieter than the click click click of the sound of the staple. If, after time, your belt stretches you can just trim the end and sew together again. Poking the hole with an awl first helps.

Posted - Apr 12 2026 : 5:09:58 PM Just an update on Chantal (the singer). I've been fiddling with the belt, and it's almost tight enough, but the staple that's supposed to hold both ends together broke with all the on and off adjustments. So now I'll either sew the ends together with upholstery thread or drive to the sewing machine shop to see if the owner has extra staples. I've also looked up how to thread it, and am ready to go.

Posted - Apr 02 2026 : 5:06:23 PM I've ordered the leather belt and looked up a couple tutorials on how to install it. In the meantime, I used our excess fencing to expand the dogs yard. There's a slight jog in the fence line, so I may use extras to smooth it out.
Rose is exploring and checking for weaknesses.

Posted - Mar 30 2026 : 8:32:12 PM Vanessa you are going to have so much fun sewing with your new machine. I have several treadle machines and love sewing with them. I also have one of those little expanding sewing boxes that my sister found at a thrift store. It's perfect for keeping patterns and spools.

Posted - Mar 30 2026 : 6:05:27 PM W hoa Nelly, it has been a while since I have posted any news, although February and March are the most boring months in these parts. Last Saturday my sweetie got me a 1898 Singer treadle sewing machine. It needs a new belt, and also had the accessory instruction book and the accessories.
On top of that, we got a sewing box chock full of vintage spools, buttons, and other sewing items. My sewing room is getting a bit crowded!

Posted - Jan 31 2026 : 12:56:52 PM It's been one of those days. I had low tires and was adding air to them, but one tire had a valve cap stuck on. I'm leery of forcing it or applying heat in case I mess up the tire. Then there was a "pop" in the toilet tank and the water started running. We got a new set of innards and put them in. Now just checking that there's no drips. And we're still married.

Posted - Jan 21 2026 : 3:14:48 PM Cold weather is here and colder weather is coming this weekend, so it's time for the feather bed. My sweetie gave me this dachshund duvet cover a year or so ago.
Sadly, my little old Tina passed away last Friday. She was in her high teens and had a full life.
