We went to Kentucky for a church homecoming, and took some time to check out properties near Irvine that we saw on Zillow. Somehow our GPS got confused in the mountains, but we found the property I had my eye on purely by accident. It is everything that I want - a view, quiet, and a small house. The only problem is that we aren't ready to retire for anot her couple years, and can't afford two mortgages. I hope the LORD will keep it for us!

It seems that things break down when I'm on my own. Today I wandered downstairs for quality time with my cat, when I saw water on the floor. We had an on-demand water heater installed and it sprung a leak. I turned it off, unplugged it and turned off the water. Then I mopped and turned on the dehumidifier. Luckily it hadn't spread too far, but there's probably water under the cabinets.
My husband is in Florida dog sitting, and he had been concerned about the water heater breaking. It's just machine malevolence that made it go kaput the day before he returns.

I'm looking over a field but I'm not on the Farm. My daughter and I are at a Cincinnati Reds game.

They work fine, but my husband wants blinds and ordered a customized set.

Vanessa, that is a neat idea. I hope they are helping with your sunlight so far.

Because the new French doors face west, we needed a practical solution to block sunlight. I found blackout fabric a perfect solution. You can cut it to fit, and it is secured with velcro and magnets. Best of all, you can remove it easily and the doors can still be opened when they are pn the windows.

Breakfast is overnight waffles, lovely yeasty bits of heaven. It amazes me that my husband prefers Eggos. Eggos are fine, but nothin' says lovin like home made. Recipe available upon request.

Vanessa, I think your puppy would love a log cabin! It could be her own vacation home!

You never miss something until it's gone, like electricity. We lost it around 4 am Thursday and got it back at 9 pm. Thank goodness for the utility workers who repaired the power lines. We're a rural county so conveniences are a long drive away.
I'm thinking of using the logs from our fallen branches to make a small log cabin.

On Saturday we took a trip up to Jungle Jims at Eastgate and I got a 6 month supply of international teas. We also got some cheese, jars of Polish pickled vegetables and red cabbage, and a heavy duty bird feeder. Later I attended a Memorial day ceremony at our Courthouse.
Today were heading to Dayton KY for a memorial day parade..

What a hoot! Reminds me of when our school did donkey basketball. The varsity basket ball team vs some of the teachers. I can't tell you who won, but I still remember the star varsity player and one teacher on donkeys that didn't want to move!

At the end of the school year, our community schools department organizes an Inflata Race. School staff and public officials volunteer to put on inflated costumes and run a race while students cheer them on. Although it is short, like the Kentucky Derby, its a hoot. I love taking pictures of the runners.

Oof da! I am wiped out! The latest project was to plant something nice in the flower beds. I got some Stella d'oro lilies, dug out a trench, planted them with fresh soil and laid mulch along the porch edge where rain hits. The extra soil was dumped under the tall deck where I hope to plant ground cover roses.

The newest addition to our home- a deck off the sunroom. Still waiting for the French doors, but I can squeeze out the side windows.

I sew my treadle belts together. It's quieter than the click click click of the sound of the staple. If, after time, your belt stretches you can just trim the end and sew together again. Poking the hole with an awl first helps.

Just an update on Chantal (the singer). I've been fiddling with the belt, and it's almost tight enough, but the staple that's supposed to hold both ends together broke with all the on and off adjustments. So now I'll either sew the ends together with upholstery thread or drive to the sewing machine shop to see if the owner has extra staples. I've also looked up how to thread it, and am ready to go.
