Posted - Dec 30 2014 : 07:45:17 AM I've asked this before, but now I can't find the thread. We need to change the name of our farm.
It used to be Country Fried Acres - then our house burned down. Not too keen on that name now.
We live in Indiana (for now)on 18 acres. 12 is tillable and 6 are woods, lawn, barnyard and gardens. We have a creek that is dry in summer. We have rabbits, goats, horses and pigs along with cats and dogs and chickens.
We have lots of hickory trees and 4 beehives. I've been trying to come up with something but am not having much luck. I've written a bunch of names down and revisit them but nothing sticks. Got any suggestions?

Posted - Jan 08 2015 : 06:58:28 AM All of those were good ideas. Congrats on deciding on Phoenix Hollow Farms. When I read Nini's description of rising from the ashes, I got goosebumps. This new name is full of strength and hope and a vision for the future.
Your homestead will provide for your family and others for a long time. Blessings!!

Posted - Jan 02 2015 : 3:58:12 PM After talking it over with the family. We are going with.......Phoenix Hollow Farms. Now to work on a logo. I'm thinking of a field with a Phoenix rising above it.
Thank you all for your input. We've been talking about this since I posted it.
Hugs!!!!!!

Posted - Dec 30 2014 : 1:27:28 PM I like that, but I might change ranch to farm or acres - When I hear 'ranch', I think of the West, cowboys and cattle. lol Thanks for the input. I am going to run that past DH and get his opinion. Dry Creek Farm, Dry Creek Acres, Dry Creek Farmstead, Dry Creek Rescue Ranch...

Posted - Dec 30 2014 : 08:18:50 AM I was trying to come up with something that relates to the farm by using goat, hickory, rabbit, the woods, the lane, creek, farm, acres, haven, etc. Many of our animals are rescues and we are starting custom baling in 2015. We want to sell meat goats and/or beef cattle. We've had hogs the last 2 years. We are also going to try the bees again. We lost our bees last year when it got so cold for so long. We have 4 hives set up and ready to go. My DH also loves meat smoking. It's so complicated to get a food vendor license that he usually just does it for us, friends and potlucks.
I've come up with Hickory Lane, Hickory Hollow (our land is mostly flat, so that is not really relevant), Fallen Hickory (after we had to cut down a huge tree this year due to lightening strike), Rabbit Run, Whispering Rabbit, Whispering Hickory, - things like that. One of my friends calls us the the Triple L since my name, DH's name and DS's name all start with L.

Posted - Dec 30 2014 : 08:02:27 AM Throwing out some ideas - We finally just settled on using my maiden name and our surname to make Estle Schipp Farm - not very much to pique imagination though. What have you been thinking about? What is your favorite part of your farm life?
