We just put our chickens in their new coop, made from salvaged and recycled items. We have been working on this project all summer. We spent less than $50 on the 12'X 10' coop & 12'X 11' yard. We have about 40 chickens. I picked up my Mary Jane's Farm magazine, Oct/Nov edition only to see "Chicken Coop Check List". I am so ordering the chicken catalogs to add to my flock.

Niiice! We need to build a larger chicken coop next year when we double our flock, this gave me a few great ideas!

We hinged the roost in our coop too for the same reason. Easy cleaning, so much better.

We have two 5-gallon buckets with five drinker valves each, suspended in the yard.

The roost is hinged at the ceiling and can be lifted up for easy cleaning.
